Oh and also...the base model cobalt is only supposed to be around 15k...where as a loaded j-body is 17-18k so yes I do see them somewhat overlapping into the same class

cavalier and the cobalt would be a sick small car duo for gm! lol

indeed that would kick major @$$

it would also be nice if GM decided to put the 2.4 Ecotec w/ VVT in the cavalier's final year as the last Z24.

Do like they did with the Fbody and end on a good note.

makeyourselfsd some places it's considered a sub-compact car, and on others ive seen it as a compact car....so i guess it depends on the source

either way the prices of the cavalier will be on average cheaper than the cobalt, and yes our cars own kia's and those lil @!#$ cars but really the price range is almost the same on those cars as ours....

but why sit here and argue, it's not really important lol
Even if GM kept the Cavalier around as the base model, little to no options car. Its styling is 100% better than the Aveo. Also GM sells the cavalier alot as a fleet car, which basically have no options as it is. The Aveo isnt really the size to do anything, I have not seen any on the road. I say keep the Cavalier around as a smaller, entry level option. Its styling is very well known and already very popular all around.
Good call Lenko

That Steel Blue Metallic is going to look super nice. Actually the Js had that color or similar ten years ago in 1995.

honestly, GM should keep the Cavalier around for a few more years and keep working on it from the j platform and loose the aveo. They finally started to get things moving with them by adding factory superchargers and factory ground effect kits which did take them a while to figure out...Things like braking systems, suspension, exhaust and a new look for the side body could be freshened a little. By bringing out a much bigger car like the Cobalt and the Ion, is GM going to loose it's younger generation buyers??? I mean that new platform in my opinion won't really be too appealing to the sport compact crowd.
I don't want to sound like a complete idiot and the following question may show my IQ as far as the sales of cars are concerned but will the 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier be available for sale to the public or is it just going to be strictly fleet...keeping in mind the word "Fleet" is completely foreign to me.

The only reason I'm asking because this will determine if I trade off my car on a Cobalt or a Cavalier

Believe it or not, the Cobalt is actually smaller in interior volume then the Cavalier.

Don't worry .
Fleet sales are sales that goes to governmental agencies, rental feets, private industries but in large bulk.
And yes, you can buy one. It will be sold to the public.

Don't worry about it.

Pretty sure the Cavalier will be Fleet only.

Fleet meaning "duty" cars. Cars that companies buy and give to their employees in order to help them carry out their job. Like how school districts give their employees F-150s and stuff to go out and fix the schools (atleast around here). Those would be considered fleet trucks.
GM stands for "Gradually Maturing"

Well I did some searches today, (hey I was completely bored) and I see that some places (supposedly, it could be a typo on their part and CarFax's part) are already selling '05 Cavaliers...

I think someone posted the link for autotrader and if you seach for them, you shouldn't have a problem finding them. I decided to take a VIN from one of the supposed '05s listed on one of the sales site and the VIN came back as a '05 Cavalier.

The interesting thing to me is that some of the dealers have different names for some colors that were offered on the '04 Cavys...such as I've seen Rally Yellow be referred on the '05 Cavalier Models on some pages as Competition Yellow or Aztec Yellow (whatever that is)...but I'll continue to wait, if it's available in the fall...my Cavalier will be traded in.
