Which JBO companies to represent at SEMA?
Wednesday, September 21, 2005 11:09 PM
I had heard that Gravana Tuning was going to be there, but they are not on the exhibitors list? Are there any other JBO companies that will be in attendance?

I will be attending Sema this year all four days, so expect pictures. Who else from the site is going???

Also any tips from previous attendees?

I don't need no stinking SIG. Wait this is one.
DOH!

I'll be there, as I am every year of course, and will be posting updates daily, including tons of photos, right here on this and all the GME sites.

I'm not sure yet who will be there and who won't. I don't think RK Sport has a booth this year, though no doubt you will be seeing their products all over the convention center. RSM Racing does have a booth once again this year, though. Remember, many companies don't have booths but you will still see their products on cars all over.

As for a cheap room - good luck, it probably won't happen. If you want to stay at a big hotel, if you can still find a room at the Stratosphere, that will be the cheapest you will find (still over $100 per night). Other then that you will have to look for a small hotel or motel somewhere off the strip. You might be able to get something at around $50 a night if you are lucky.

I'm 50/50 on going right now. Dave and I stayed at Quality Inn Key Largo year and it was cheap and still walking distance to the convention center. I think it was like $50 a night and we got it about a week or 2 before SEMA.

The only thing still available through the SEMA site is Excalibur at $169/night. All other room blocks have sold out.

That was 2 years ago. Last year we stayed at my friend's house. It may have been a 20 minute drive to the convention center, but it beat paying out the rear for a hotel room.

I would go but I was told that only companies are allowed to go. Which I thought was stupid because we the consumers are the ones who buy all the products, aswell as the companies/distributors. The date is perfect too because my birthday is November 4th. Awesome birthday present.

SEMA is a TRADE SHOW. That means its for TRADE. Parts are not bought and sold at the event, but instead partnerships are made, deals are created, and there is a whole lot of networking going on. Letting consumers into the show would completely kill the purpose of it, and the industry would slow or stop altogether. Consumers have car shows, races, television and radio shows, magazines, etc etc etc. This one event is where things are put into place to make sure that you HAVE stuff to buy, places to go, and things to do. Rest assured that the coverage of the SEMA show that you see on TV, read in magazines, and view on the web, is everything that you need to know and more. You can get excited about what is to come, while the companies work out the details of what you want and how to get it to you.

I'll just quote what I said in an AIM conversation yesterday...
"To outsiders it looks like a big car show, and while that is partially true, that is not the focus of the event at all."
In other words, if you think SEMA is a car show, you've got a lot of learning to do.

I was suppose to be there in Audiobahn's booth, but I can't get off from school, its my senior year in college so. Plus my husband can't take leave either. I'm alittle sad about not going but oh well. But the only one i believe that is j-body really is RSM Racing like someone already said, but its a fun event. Have fun everyone that is going.
