Pacesetter Coating sucks
Wednesday, March 02, 2005 3:48 PM
I ordered a black pacesetter header and it came in today with a sticker stuck to it stating "paint is not high temp, for a longer lasting paint recommend painting with a high temp paint. Follow manufacturers instructions." WTF is that? I didn't just pay $150 for this thing to have to sand blast it and paint it again, hell the paint that is on it is chipping off already. AGGGHHH I hate internet purchases sometimes, and to top it all off the header itself is ugly!! Not like pictured at all. What a crock

LMAO, what are you so mad about, you bought a header that was 150 dollars and the paint is coming off, what where you hopping for? $150 dollars for a header is CHEAP! Like everyone else said, you should have bought the ceramic-coated one. And what are you complaining about it being ugly for, lol, its not a show piece, its a performance part.

But really what were you expecting out of this post? Everyone seems to already know this about the black coating on the header, and they told you that everyone already knows this. And I was on the org longer then you...............

Again, clear it up for you since typing on your keyboard has obviously clouded your ability to understand clear logic. Yes I bought it as a show piece not a performance mod. I don't care about the benenfits when it comes to that I just didnt want the rusty stock one. Thanks for being @!#$s anyway

Then take it and have it coated black, its going to cost you about 100 dollars. Do you understand that, the header wouldnt cost 150 dollars if it didnt have a cheap finish on it. Go to a place in your area and get it coated. But like everyone else said, this is common knowledge you should have already known, but now your just trying to argue with people b/c of your stupidity.

If this is a show piece and you want it to hold up well and still look good look at some of the Hi-Temp paints Eastwood offers, we used them on a 79 Mustang restore job we did and it came out really nice and it holds up great. Click here Dumbass
Had to throw that in to keep with the theme of the post.

if you woulda done reaserch , you would have know before hand , the paint is not high temp

you even coulda called and asked

there is no reason to get pissy , cause you didnt do any reaserch

and if you wanted a show piece , not a performance mod , then you shoulda had the stock manifold plated

even if the header was painted with a high temp paint , about 70% of the time it will burn off also

so dont get pissed at other people , cause you didnt have the balls to ask questions first

Manufactured using mandrel-bent, mild steel tubing and surface-ground, thick steel flanges, PaceSetter Headers are available with standard black painted finish or Armor*Coat, a polished, 2000 Degree F, metallic-ceramic coating. Each header undergoes an extensive preparation phase followed by two applications of the coating and a high-temp curing process. The Armor*Coat won't discolor like paint, chrome or dull finish coating, reduces underhood temperatures, resists rust and corrosion and is easy to keep clean. All PaceSetter Headers come with hardware, gaskets and illustrated instructions and are backed by a three-year warranty. Header bolts not included.

That was taken right off the site. I don't see what exactly you are complaining about. Go out and buy some high temperature rattle can paint and spray it. It is not hard and some great finishes can come out of a can:

Nope, but if you feel better then fine. Its still @!#$ty and you guys are a bunch of pricks thanks for ruining a good site and useless support.

You come on here and bash a product that was inexpensive, and there is the common knowledge that the coating on it would come off. But instead of doing some research into the product you blindly purchased it with unrealistic expectations on it and then you call it garbage.

Now everyone has told you that they could have told you this if only asked, but you never did, and its to late now. But we are degrading the site b/c YOU decide it is appropriate to post in the performance section about the paint of a header, when you don’t even want the header for performance. So what was the point of even posting this, to start something, to cause a scene?

I told you, you can get it ceramic coated, and others have given you options on painting it, what more do you want? But yet we are the bad guys........go figure

well theres been tons of posts on the pacesetter headers and people posting that the ceramic coated one is better because it a) keeps engine cool cause black attracts heat and b) the paint burns off because of the high tempurature of your engine

so yeah i know people hate to SEARCH but theres been tons of pacesetter posts so you shoulda just browsed through them before buying it anyways so you would know if somethings as good as the net says it is.
