Paul we got a place at the Landing Apartments. on the corner of 36th and Cornhusker. seems like a decent place but garages are spendy so i am going to be looking for a storage unit in the area so i have a place where i can work on my cars.

The Landing is a pretty nice place for sure. Man, if you need some garage space once in a while, you are more than welcome to come over. Nothing wrong with loaning out a garage spot and a helping hand. Just bring beer. Working on cars seems to be a lot more fun with some of that stuff

z yaaa-

I would but I am attending a hand fasting ceremony (pagan wedding) that night.

JLAudio Cavalier-

Just let me know your poison. I am a good provider of the brewed kind for some work space and a little extra know how.

Paul-

Should i be scared that i am that close to you.

I told my wife the other night that the good thing of the jbo was that one of our greatest friends was because of this club. Never met a nicer group of people or a bigger ethug than what is on the jbo.

And you can use our garage all you want if your provide some Sam Adams Boston Lager or Third Stone Vanilla Porter. I don't care what Paul drinks, just bring the beer I like

I've lived in CB for over 6 years now. Here's what I can say. The further east you go in CB the better. If you live in an area with lots of rentals things go down hill. CB has less apartments and therefore less competition. So prices are higher. Don't let Omaha locals fool you. If you watch the news at all you'll soon realize someone is either shot or stabbed everyday of the year Omaha. Plates and taxes are a lot less in CB. Omaha is a city that lives beyond it's means and taxes accordingly. As for the Wal-Mart comment earlier.... Really? Omaha's Wal-Marts are just as trashy it's Wal-Mart what do you expect? Nebraskans have some sort of complex. Iowa and Nebraska are pretty boring places, but good places to live and grow up. Cheap cost of living and for the most part very safe. Nebraskans seem to think if they poke fun at Iowa they'll look less pathetic, but in the end neither state has much to draw major tourism. Both towns have nice convention centers that bring in a lot of big name acts. Just so you know Husker fans are possibly the most annoying people on earth. I don't care about football, but Husker fans make sure you know how big of a fan they are every chance they get. If you like another team do yourself a favor and don't advertise it. Your stuff will get messed with. Part of the complex thing I mentioned earlier. I really like my small east side CB hood. It's close to the interstate and I can be anywhere in Omaha I'd need to be in under 20 minutes. Unless it's rush hour. CB has plenty of places to eat and get a drink. Omaha just has more because it's bigger. Council Bluffs has 3 Casinos and Omaha has none. The parking lot is typically full of NE plates. Omaha has tried to open a Casino, but each time it is Voted down. Iowa just starting allowing gay marriage and Nebraska does not. It's odd to me that a conservative city Omaha has so many budget problems. Here's a link to a "Crime report website"

http://www.wowt.com/news/misc/15607977.html

As you can see it's spread all over town. Apartments just have problems. If you check in CB I bet you can rent a house for what some of those apartments will cost you. Have you thought about buying? With housing market being in the dumps you're sure to get a good price on a house where ever you buy. Plus if you act quick you can get the $8k from Uncle Sam if you are new home owners. That's almost enough down to eliminate the P.M.I. insurance on a $100k house. Best of luck in your search.

Seth you sound like it is some kind of competition lol. The Landing is a brand new appartment complex in a really good part of Bellevue. And any of those shootings are happening up in north-O where no one needs to go anyway. Why so butt hurt that he didn't go to CB? Wow. You completely advertise CB as if it is running for congress against Omaha. You are @!#$ hilarious. "We have 3 casino's, Nebraska has none". Get over it man, CB as a whole, is more of a @!#$ hole than any other city in the area. I have lived here for 7 months now, and moved here from the northeast. I can give a 1005 outside unbiased look and definitely think CB for the most part is nasty.

And about the Husker fans and what-not. I tend to disagree there as well. While they love their team and love to flaunt it, let em. Out here Husker football is all they really have. No major league team with half the following of their college team. I actually told people I like other teams, other leagues, other sports, it usually starts a conversation about where I'm from, or a FRIENDLY debate. It has never gotten my @!#$ messed with, my baseball cap defaced, or any other over the top garbage you think these Husker fans do. They like their team, if they are pissy with you, you are probably outright saying the Huskers are the worst and acting like a whine ass to them.

Anyway, sorry that Seth guy got all butt hurt and drew me in to further take this thread off topic. I hope you enjoy Bellevue and the greater Omaha area. There is a TON to offer(even in some parts of CB), and I think you can adjust to the area decently. I haven't had any issues adjusting other than missing some people back home.

Not really a competition, it's just that everyone bad mouths the town of CB when it's just the same as any of the towns are here. I was just trying to clear a few things up. Look at the first set of appartments that were listed. Who really wants to spend more than a $1000/ month on an apartment? I guess if mommy and daddy are paying your bills more power to you. The dude was asking people on a J-body forum what places to look into and he gets a list of high end west Omaha apartements. I have no beef with the J-body and I'm not trying to down grade it or it's owners. I'm just pitching in my 2 cents. Everyone has their own perspective. I'm glad you like Bellevue. I've been there many times and think it's about the same as any other city/town here. The main point of my original post was that Omaha is really pricey and they are raising taxes again and if I were looking to move into the area I'd live outside city limits. People in Nebraska always try to discredit CB right off the bat and I was mearly sticking up for it. You're right. I bet if we asked 1005 people in Omaha they would say CB is gross and trashy. How many of them lived in Iowa ever? Anyone that has lived on either side of the river will tell you there isn't really any difference. So trying to say I'm being defencive is fine, but CB was getting down graded from the beginning. I signed onto this forum to find a 2nd Gen Z24 for sale and thought I'd toss my $.02 in.

I'm sure if you like talking football Huskers are ok. I don't care and just get annoyed by everyone thinking that I should. In the fall every type of media covers Husker football and if you don't care it gets really old. Once again just my $.02 for someone moving to the area. If want to drink the cool aide more power to you.

Hope you enjoy your stay in the area.

to solve this butt hurt for everybody. CB looked and sounded okay at first, but when I was driving around with my wife she and I were a little uncomfortable feeling in the CB area. Now don't get me wrong, I have camped and stayed in East St. Louis and was in New Orleans just after Katrena, I have seen my fair share of bad areas and CB isnt the worst but it wasn't a place that we wanted to live.

With that being said we have lived at the Landings for less than a week and we really like the area, the fields and farms around us are really comforting but it has been really nice that we can get anywhere in the city in about 15 minutes. we have discovered the nebraska furniture mart and are now a little poorer. But all in all it is a nice quiet part of town. Paul, JL. and everybody when things settle down for us in moving we should get together for some beers. do you guys know a good "towny" bar?

American Bistro is a decent little bar. it's right around the corner from our place basically. off 25th and Capehart. Other than that, slightly closer to you is a sports bar in the little shopping complex off 36th and 370, the name escapes me at the moment. They even have some decent food. There is DJ's Dugout off Cornhusker by Menards. There are TONS of sports bars and food places with good beer in Omaha too. But the ones I listed are the closest ones to you.
