Direct port = fun times to come! with the s/c
Friday, June 02, 2006 8:48 PM
Well, I have been sittin on my lazy @ss all day long, well not really, but I did fall asleep after I got home from work while watching Initial D. So I decided to do something productive on this rainy evening so this is what I decided to go for. Now, there is a kid on here running a dry 50 shot into his charger so I am curious if I could run a direct port 75 shot... hmmmm....

I guess it'll either work or blow up.
Good luck and make sure and clean it out really good before u put it back on.

It will be good as long as you have a good fuel system (unless you already have it) to back it up. I'd deffinately go ahead and secure a wideband and HpTuners Pro(unless you have these) before going ahead though. Since you're going for a 75, you shuold probably run the nitrous a tad bit more rich than it already should be just to be on the safe side. From there with HpT you can back the fuel off sightly and have a good safe mix from there.

so far for fuel I have a 12:1 fmu, and an MSD external fuel pump. I am thinkin about getting a cartech adjustable and getting rid of the stock fpr. I have an AEM wideband. HP tuners? Definately, but thats on hold for now. Of course, the nitrous isn't going to be used at a 75 shot until I get it, but until then probably going to stick with a 50 shot. I also invested in an pyrometer aswell. Running the nitrous setup a lil rich is something I have been contemplating as well. I wanted to do a lil research on custom tuning a nitrous setup before I pour in a 75 shot as well. Right now I just wanna get the car back together. Should be fun! thanks

Those aren't going to hit the fuel rail are they?

own3d! yup, the nozzles smacked the fuel rail, so I changed the holes out and now this is what it looks like.

Can you go back more without the nitrous spraying right into the runners? If not You should look at going under the mani! Keep us posted, im all ears and eyes!

Jb weld ownz! I was thinkin about goin under but with the wiring, the brackets and the a/c pulley delete, plus the starter, I thought it would be really hard to get it to fit. Plus the ease of fine tuning the system with the nozzles on top is much more appealing.

Just keep in mind that your FMU is going to be raising the fuel pressure being sprayed from the jets in the nitrous system as well. You will need to use smaller than recommended fuel jets to compensate for the extra fuel pressure since it will be close to doubled the pressure the jets are rated at. Also, good luck finding jets small enough to run a 50 shot, the smallest i've seen jets for a direct port were for a 75 shot, and those were for stock fuel pressure.

skilz, would that be the same as a wet kit as well?

I have mine currently jetted at 65hp. I don't remember the company I went through but I use the same nozzles and found jets that went all the wayto 30hp for direct port on a 4cyl.

I can't be sure from just looking at the nozzles.

What are the jets sizes for those 65 and 30 shots, i'd like to know?

You realize that a 30 shot of a 4 cyl direct port is 4 7.5hp jets.

There was 3 of us who all got the same NOS Pro Race Fogger direct port kits at the same time, we all searched for the smallest jets so we could start off small, the smallest we ever found we 20hp jets which = a 80hp shot when using them in 4 nozzles.

the truely sad part is that a couple weeks ago I drilled the original holes, I didn't like them, so I drilled the new ones. The new ones are the ones that hit the rail. Needless to say, I went back to the old ones.... dumbass.....

Nitrous Wholesale Warehouse... 281-802-1024

You can jet as low as 12.5hp for 4cyl direct port,
.009" jets should = 3.11hp per cylinder.

Let's help make that confused, inaccurate response clearer.

What size fuel would he run with that nitrous jet to get 12hp?

12hp? wtf who wants just 12hp, thats metro sh!t, i say nothing lower than 35 shot, with my 35 shot i knocked off 4 tenths.

Ok.. you got me there..... Could always run an auxilary carb fuel pump and do like 6psi through that nitrous system!!!!!!
But no.. unreasonable.

Smallest you should be able to go unless you drop base pressure would be 0.016" nitrous jets and 0.009 fuel jets for a total of roughly 35hp.. which is smaller than anybody here we go with direct port anyway so it's all good.

not sure if that engine has a schrader (sp) hookup for the fuel or not but if you tap in for fuel in the softline pre-FMU you won't have a problem because of that, the external pump will affect it either way though

^^^ The fmu goes on the return line and block more fuel from going back to the return line... raising the pressure everywhere all the way to the fuel pump.
