Install wasn't too bad. I had thought I might be able to pull 1/2 tach signal from one of the ICM wires but that didn't work out as planned. So I got myseld an MSD tach driver, spliced it into the pink power supply wire and was on my way. Install was simple but I do have an electronics background. I can try to draw up a schematic if anyone needs it.

It works great. I was at the track this past friday to try and beat my previous personal best of 14.7. Well being able to have 50 extra HP at the wheels in first gear now instead of 2nd was a huge help once i learned how to drive with it there. What's nice with the digital is I can open up my glovebox, tap a few buttons, and adjust the on and off points by 100 rpm incraments.

End result: old best ET spraying from beginning of 2nd to the traps 14.7
New best 14.2 spraying all the way down the track from 3200 to 6300
Thanks man, I'm hoping I can squeze a 13.9 out of her without using a bigger shot (currently 50). I have a few tricks in mind to get there. Last friday was a last minuite decision so the trunk was full of ish, about 30 or so lbs, full tank of gas, and the suspension was still set level for cornering. Next time I'll be jacking the back and slamming the front Did I mention all my times are on stock RS-A's

Ok, don't make fun of my artwork, nobody said I was an artist

I drew this up this morning at work so if you have trouble making somthing out, or if you think I miss labeled somthing let me know. I've been sucessfully running this setup for about a week now and it's been perfect!

noids LMAO

ok i'm perfectly understanding that you run all these switches in series to close the circuits for the relays....

my questions is.... before the tach driver, where does the pink and pink/green wire come from???

THANKS alot for the diagram and the parts numbers

You got it in the 1st pic. I think (about 75% sure) that the wire on the ECU is the same wire but I can't be 100% on that. But the pink one in your first photo is deffinately the one you want. You'll cut it and put the driver in series with it (like a switch).

Heres a couple of pics of where I spliced the wire and mounted the driver.

Glad I can help. I'll send you the invoice for my consulting fees

Good luck man, let me know how you make out.
would the rpm switch work on the zex kit? Would be any different since it has that controle box?
i'm not sure how the zex kit "box" works

get that crazy cannuk johnny lenko or that guy from colorado (i can't remember his name) in here

they both run zex

if you could find a wiring diagram for how the zex kit works that'd be cool

The price i found for the digi RPM window switch was about $180 from Here and I'm really close to buying this for my car but im wondering, lets say you have it set at 3000-5800, will it spray the nitrous if you're revving(5-speed) up to launch?

If anyone understood that lemme know! and thanks!
well, if you're smart.....

you'd have an rpm switch ALONG with a wot switch

it'd be ideal in my opinion to set the rpm window for 4k to 6200 or so and use it in first gear, cause i usually launch at 2500-3000 and by the time i get traction i'm at 4 anyways

bball, use the two msd part numbers up top and look on summit, you'll find that the two together are about 140

the window switch you linked to doesn't have anything for distributorless ignitions which means it wouldn't read tach signal correctly and you'd have to buy a tach driver as well, i'd say go with the msd stuff and get it done

and now that i look

you could put a window switch inline with the throttle position sensor that goes along with your zex kit

if you're not within the rpm range the circuit will remain open until both the throttle position switch and the rpms are in the right range

Wow, Rich, this is the first I've heard of your new times. That's awesome, man! glad to hear it's all working for you. I like my non-digital rpm switch just fine, it serves me well considering I'm too damn cheap to buy the digital version, lol. Man, you gotta IM me or something, long time no chat.
When it gets alittle dryer outside i'll go out and record my launches on camera and see about where in the RPM's it grabs traction! So for now i'll only have the w.o.t switch until I grab this rpm window switch!
Jarrett, Yea man haven't talked really since that day at atco. I didn't see your SN in your profile so hit me up with a email or phonecall or somthing. My aim name is listed in there so you can get me on that too. I've been busy over the past 6 months ( not car related unfortunately) but I'm looking forward to the upcoming season. I'm trying to keep up with you LOL....

Well, a bump up to the 75 shot, Maybe some drag radials, and a trip to E-town, and you might just beat my personal best. Lookin good, Rich. I'm done with the Z24 for a little while, trying to get the '52 back on the road (and track) for next season. Plus, I just bought another 50's era car to pimp out, so money will be diverted to those projects instead of the cavi for quite awile.
ok, i'm curious

i was just looking at the install instructions from msd in pdf format

why did you buy the tach signal converter?????

msd part number 8969 can be set to run on a 2 cyl distributor less ignition

are you using the tach converter for a tach too and just using the signal for the window switch too???

thanks
