Do that. You might be able to get 6.5s in there with some persuasion. The imaging with kicks is great.

Re: System

Would I have to cut into the kicks for the 6.5 nd will the back of the speaker fit in that smalk area... Would 6.5's sound that much better then the 5.25's?
Re: System

Wait. Did you order 5.25s or 6.5s? I thought you ordered 6.5s.

Re: System

I ordered 6.5 lol I was asking about running the 6.5 in the door plus kicks
Re: System

Or is that no good

DO NOT run full range speakers in doors AND kick panels. Bad bad bad bad having one set off axis, one semi-on axis, both playing same frequencies, all other variables considered. Just don't do it. It will be much more of a nightmare. With good power to ONE good set of components, you will be more than happy. Think of the Cascade VBMax budget, or the amps budget, or the budget for that kick ass sub and enclosure. All that get's hindered if you put more cash into an unneeded set of speakers.

Word to the above. I ran like that for awhile. Hell I think Ive tried everything up front except A-pillars. It got louder but the sound was muddy and the imaging was terrible.

Idk why but I keep thinking Q-Logic uses the same kicks for 6.5 and 5.25. If not they leave plenty of room to play with. I think couldve gotten some smaller 8s in my 6.5 kicks.

Lol I remember reading on a audio website where the guy with the three jl audio subs in the spare tire well (i think it was like menitti or something like that, a white cavalier) said that if u redo the kick panels with fiberglass and have them angled facing eachother (so they would b flat againt the door) that it would sound good and keep the imaging... Any opinions?

Youre still going to have to play with time alignment and give each component set its own channel. Idk if Imprint can compensate for that to be honest.

Oo ok

Re: System

U think u can do the time alignment by ear if u sat there for a while?
Re: System

YOUR ears will be the best tuning device when it comes to getting the soumd YOU like in YOUR car.

Probably if you have the ability to do time alignment. I currently dont have anything in my car that allows for time alignment but the 9887 does.

that all depends on what speakers you are using, some are meant to be used on axis and some are meant to be used off axis. on axis will sound best pointed back and up like the q-logics do (even then the q-logics are still just a ballpark guess at the proper angle. speakers designed for off-axis wont sound good aimed like in a set of q-logics. every speaker is diffrent, thats why i choose to make my own kickpods.

time alignment. set your time alignment based on the distance of each speaker to the listener. that will determine most at where each speaker should be set. dont use your ear for time alignment, use the math.
