it was the flange on the intake manifold it was warped at the bolt holes. they sent it out to be machined

Update: Intake and Exhaust leaks are all fixed. The car is running now. We havent had time to tune it yet but we'll get on the dyno soon. It sounds real nasty but whats crazy is when you unplug the factory map sensor completely the car runs fine and when you plug it back in the car shuts right off. I have the msd dis2 and the msd 3 bar map but we didnt get to play with any of it yet. We still have alot to do but tomorrow we should make some more progress.

249 HP 237 Torque at 5-6 PSI. Still having problems with the map sensor. I think we're going to stop at 10 lb's and get a Haltech Stand alone and 680 cc Injectors.

Is it just me or 249 hp at 5-6 psi is completely insane !! Are you talking whp or engine hp ?

Either way, I'm keeping an eye on your car ! Keep it up !

Wheel Horsepower !
Not only is that car fast...its beautiful.

It's 249 to the wheels. I almost couldnt believe it we were having so many problems I didnt think it was going to put down anything. The first 2 runs on the dyno the car couldnt get past 3,500 rpm and it put down like 107 and 140 something. We kept tuning the safc and did another pass, it was breaking up bad at low rpm and it cleared up in the mid to top end and 249 whp 237 torque was on the dyno software when it was done. A/F was lean at about 14:1. We tried to turn the boost up last night and start pulling timing with the MSD DIS2 but as soon as we were rdy the car started poping fuses when we tried to start it so now we pulled out the SAFC and MSD and the nitrous wiring and everything is being re-wired back up again. We're not taking any chances with electrical problems. When everythings hooked back up it will go back on the dyno.

Its not really insane at all. The right cams and good headwork will really help the motor breathe a lot more air, the result is being able to make a lot more power than a stock motor could on the same boost pressure. There are 3 or 4 other cars on this site making roughly the same power at that boost level.

CNFX, can you post the dyno chart please?

The ECU fuse is still blowing after we re-wired everything. Has anyone seen this happen before?

Just trying to figure out why the MAP is causing problems...... is it the stock map plugged in?

Thats odd, since I dont think you can put a 2.3 ho manifold on the eco...... and this whole post has been about his car having a 2.4....... and I thought it was completly built? or did I miss something?

all of a sudden its a stock eco?

I'm guessing the o in eco is supposed to be a u(ecu). Because I'm pretty sure it's a built 2.4 also.

As far as blowing the fuses.... I've never seen that b4, only thing i can suggest is checking the power pin and see if it's shorted to ground??? IDK what else it could be espically since you've go through the wiring.

damn typo's....... lol

IDK then, if its the stock computer and stock sensor, there shouldn't be any problems........ but then again, its blowing fueses now.........

I've seen that problem before. It was something to do with the security alarm and I've only seen it on S-10s......? Beats me though. Decent numbers on low boost. I'd try just throwing in another computer.
Question though..... why so much engine work and then a stock computer?

The car was built a little at a time. The engine's been built for almost a year. I never bought a stand alone because I wanted to see what I could get away with on the stock computer and a safc with fuel mods.

personally, I think thats the way to go........ nothing like building an awsome engine, bolting on a turbo kit, and trying to get it all running on a brand new standalone......... not my idea of fun. I'd do it the same way as you.

You'll get it sorted out.

^^ That's why I built mine and got it running with the same S/C setup I had on my stock motor. Now it's time to start changing things up a little (or a lot ).

It's back on the dyno right now. So far it seems like we got all the bugs worked out. I'll let you know how it goes shortly.
