F23 vs HM282/T550 diff
Thursday, November 03, 2011 10:03 AM
Has anyone actually compared these two side by side? I'm interested to know if the diffs might be interchangeable. Probably not directly, but with some machine work and definitely gear changes. I know the overall width is the same, since some guys have swapped from the 282 to F23 and used the same axles with no issues. Anyone got anymore info?

.

I too would like to know this.

I could take some measurements ~ I'm pretty sure that I have a spare 282 diffy kicking around...

I have some leads on a limited slip for the 282, but it's looking to be brutally expensive - and this has me thinking of swapping in an F23 c/w Quaife LSD ~ but if I could just buy the Quaife and swap that in, I'd be able to avoid any required fabrication work...

Hmmm... I'm really surprised no one has this info offhand.

My thoughts exactly. The LSD options for the 282 are few and far between (and too expensive for what they are).

jmarks- do you have an F23 diff out? I have 3 or 4 282 diffs I can could measure up and we could compare.

I have a few F23 diffs (and isuzu, 4t40e F35.....) out in the garage..... If I remember correctly, the 282/550 diff's were considerably different..... maybe if I get a chance, I can check my tote and see if there is a 282/550 diff in there.

lol everyone has parts... nobody has gone out and made use of said parts though!

would love to know if we can use the F23 ring and pinion in a T550 so i can use the VUE 4.40 FDR.

I posted up specs for the F23 diff on the Q4/LD9 FB page. Brad, copy and paste the measurements here for everyone (I would but I can't with the iPhone).
