Ok, I am probably going to start on painting my interior, and I have read all the faqs on interior painting, so I know what i need to start, but which parts of the interior would I be able to paint with krylon fusion, and which would I not be able to? I think the only one that I cannot paint would be the top dash panel with the airbag cover because it is more like a vinyl than plastic. Would I be correct, or are there other parts that I would need different paint? <br>

to my knowledge, and im sure someone will correct me if im wrong....but everything plastic can be painted.....two ways of doing this....the primer that has a high buil up on it....primer and sand until smooth.....or you can sand the plastic down till its smooth and then primer etc etc.....
as far as the dash, no you cant paint vinyl, but the part that covers the air bag is plastic and very paintable.....
oh and the defrost vent....
Isn't the lid to the storage compartment on the center console (in 03-04) vinyl? If it is, I used spraypaint and had no problem with it getting sticky or coming off. I used Dupi-color Vinyl & Trim spray in flat black. Looks amazing =)

yes vinyl dye would work...or you can rip off the vinyl and fiberglass that mother fer.... <br>
I went with the Dulicolor. It work great. <br>

Krylon Fusion ur not sposed to primer it, i didn't and its hasn't peeled yet, had it for maybe 1 year, clear coat it good though, but yeah dash trim would be fine, this is what mine looks like :

Just make sure you THOUROUGHLY clean it. If you've used any vinyl and plastic protectant (Like Maguiers or Armorall), the paint won't adhere. A friend of mine said he used brake parts cleaner. Sprayed down the plastic and vinyl, let it dry, then wiped it down with to make sure it was all off. Then he just used plain krylon spraypaint (no clear coat) and it's fine. Had it like that for a couple years I believe and none of it's chipped or peeled.. even in the torture of the southern heat.
I put a clear coat on it and it doesn't feel stick at all.

I think low odor clear coat, or on hot days your car will smell like a spray booth..

My boyfriend used black krylon fusion on his dash and it was sticky and never fully dried as well as on his center console .........I would not suggest using it because it was a pain in the A$$ to get it off......he than did a full fiberglassed dash and now it looks awesome....as for using the krylon fusion I would have to tell you to stay away from it and I am sure he would too!

That's because he used something made for plastics on vinyl. I don't care what the label says, paint shouldn't be used on vinyl. Ever.
Stay away from whatever you want, but don't stay away for using the product incorrectly!

I know that Krylon fusion is for PLASTIC I believe the question was would it would on the dash IE VINYL or would you have to get VINYL DIE.............I simply answered the question that I would not advise using it...........this was something that we tired because he wanted the dash glassed anyway..........

I should have answered you in a different way, while I understand that the post was brought back I was just telling them about my experience with the stuff, while knowing that fusion is only for plastic we tried it on the vinyl figuring if it worked great. hey guys i have had my interior painted for about 6 months now and its a daily driver and no peeling or anything. i have my center console paint (no vinyl anymore) and its never been sticky and i love krylon fusion paint easiest stuff i have ever used and i never clear coated any of it.
