well ive started a new project...with the door panels....

anyways i was just wondering....for the insert that goes around the handle and lock there are like plastic welds or something...so im gonna snap em off...no problems there...however after i sand the piece and paint it...how would i go about puttng it back on sturdily...like i cant make a plastic weld thing like the one that is on there now, so what are your thoughts on how to get it to stay on...

the same for the carpet inserts in the map pockets... im gonna change the carpet...but how would i reinstall them if i break off all the plastic bends/ welds

check with a local body shop and find out what they use for interiors. I do a lot of fiberglass work and find that duramix works well... I use 4040 and it bonds almost anything to anything!! It's kind of pricey, but if you ask a local body shop I'm sure they can get it cheaper for you.

74 in a 45?? are you sure officer?? I really didn't think my car would even go that fast!!

40/40 is what you need to weld plastic. 20 bucks for a bottle(comes in 2 part)

wysiwyg: you should add some of your info on plastic welding to the interior FAQ. It'd be a great addition!

you could also use a heat gun, melt the tabs till it pops out, and when your done put it back in place and then use the heat gun to remelt the taps back down, i used this method to take a cavy door apart then put it back together, only thing u have to worry about it getting the piece so hot it warps. its kind of like welding in that repsect.
