Awsome work man. I am going to be building an engine this summer, might look into this instead. Have you written the instructions and list of parts yet? nice job.

MW3 FTW!
about the 99 Z question.. it'll run better when fully tuned, and you can flash tune a 99
again awesome work!! also I would grab the adjustable cam gears and run double row chains.. this is the true king of Quad's. Not the first on the block, but the first I know of on OUR block!
Sven you totally quarterloafed your computer..
i dont even know what im looking at but it looks nice. nigga nasty

"still want to smash that like the fist of an angry god"
ok so the noodle is a goin...
you did a 2.4 style water pump in the 2.3 timing chain housing when you did the single row?? or you put a single row chain gear on it?? help me here because i am lost. the timing chain housing is one for a dual or single row? (ive never even seen the double row setup before in my life so excuse my stupidity here).
so power steering... you just axed the 95 pump and ran the hoses to the older belt driven one and it worked perfectly?
what year block is that?? couldnt you essentially do this same stuff to a 95 block and just do an older oil pump swap to make it better?
when you tear it down you should check your timing chain to see if it stretched.... ya know just to see...
and lastly... you've got 9.7:1 pistons?? and the stroke change upped the compression? i still dont quite get this part...
Familiar Taste of Poison.
so your not using the stock mount location because you don't wanna spend the money on a mount?? is that what i got out of an earlier post?? if so i hope you plan to re-enforce the rad support bar you will be making less torque them me but i do know those j upper rad supports aren't designed to take the tugging on
als the lower stock j engine mount is the torqueing moun as is the 2 you are putting in what are you using to keep the engine up, thats what the stock upper does
on the 3800s ( think the cutlass does aswell not sure tho) uses a puck style mount to support it vertically and those dog bones are for the torquing. 3 torque mounts and no vertical mount may give you issues when you install it
JBO since July 30, 2001
please check post dates. since this has been together for like 3 years I doubt he's having mount issues
only reason this is up top is because Brad asked a question which still hasn't been answered (which like, I'd answer - but I don't know the answer).

whoa lol
i didnt answer brad cus i already answered him via IM.
and yes this engine has been running for a while now, put down 209whp all motor
all current problems / rebuilding / pics are up in performance section
as for the mounts im not exactly sure what you were refering to, if its the 2 upper dog bones then the answer is i had INTENDED to use them WITH the stock mounts..but it didnt work out
so i only used the stock mounts and thru the uppers in a box in my garage lol
as for all the questions
its an LGO block, with a 1995 quad4 timing set which was single row yet still retained the quad style water pump rather than the 2.4 pump which requires the removal of the timing to change it
the 95 quad pump is much easier to change if it goes bad
yes i ran the stock power steering lines to the old pulley style pump and it works fine
yes, my chain stretched over time ( i had a used one installed) so a new chain and tensioner was installed recently
and yes i went with a dished piston and still raised the compression..when you increase stroke you increase compression , even if the deck height didnt change
currently this engine is back appart and being rebuilt bigger and stronger..be prepared for more HP in the future
was that a vin-A 2.3 block?
It shouldn't matter / I would go with a 89-94 block.
