If sales volumes are to low its not worth the added cost to a manufacture to produce a vert. One of the reasons you cant get a manual trans full size truck from GM anymore. I wonder how well that conversion will survive a crash??

Interesting thing to note is that pretty much all the 3rd gen F-body convertibles were not in fact made in house by GM, they were modified for GM by ASC Mclaren. GM has quite a long history of making a car and then outsourcing it to a 3rd party to sell as a different trim model. Hence the SLP cars, and further back the factory turbo and convertibles done by ASC Mclaren

I know T-tops are from a "later era" than what the current model is trying to capture, but they are easier to engineer and still let the mullet fly in the wind

ummm, gm will be making verts.....we've already ran a few now...full production of the vert will be starting in a few months.
theres already 15,000 vert pre orders (they call them inquires tho, as they can't call it a order yet as the cars not in production) We've been making the coupes 6 days a week (at around 430-450 cars pre day) for the last about 5 months, and last i heard were still 80,000 behind...
We haven't mass produced the vert yet because the company that was going to be making the top's went under, so it was pushed back......
we wont be making the right hand drive models tho..although the plant is set up to do so...

I'm pretty sure with todays safety standards and also the quality of cars and what people expect from them has gone up considerably in the past 10 years. T-tops are notorious for leaking and wind noise. Not to mention that in order to use them a significant amount of bracing is needed to keep the car from flexing. More bracing more weight, less fuel economy, not really something your going to see the auto industry jumping to do.
Now don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE them. It irritates me that you can't even buy a car with them nowadays. I know full well though if I ever roll the car, I'm pretty much dead.

Verts do not add any more protection or weight savings over t-tops.

Yeah man, a T-top car may not be as stiff as a regular hard top, but its still hella stiffer than a vert. And T-tops don't leak because its the nature of T-tops, its because the only cars to have done it were 70/80's cars that had pretty horrendous build quality to begin with. Granted, chassis flex will prove challenging for the seals, but its more a question of "are people willing to pay for T-tops with enough engineering behind them to not be pieces of crap?" I don't think enough people are interested in them. Partly because of the bad rep they garnered with the 2nd through 3rd gen F-bodies.
Wait... So... You're telling me all you have to do to make your engine more powerful,
is to order and install a bunch of parts made SPECIFICALLY FOR IT? Off of a website?
No measuring? No fabrication? No experimentation? Well, where's the fun in that?

My old Cutlass had t-tops and they only leaked if I went through a car wash. So I just didn't go through a car wash and never had one problem with leaking. If GM made t-tops for the Camaro I would really consider one as my next car. Personally I think they look much cooler then convertibles.
