OMG, That SAME exact thought went through my mind.

I was thinking "Boy I hope they make that car so I have a reason to dislike Civics".

Wow, that was amazing........

To me it looks like an accord SI not a civic

Wow, Honda finally made a wing stock.... Geez.

It's a nice looking car but it looks like a mini TL. As for the engine not holding boost very well. If it's the same engine in the RSX (which from the sounds of it, it is) it will hold boost very well.

BUT, keep in mind the comment in the post... Horsepower means nothing if you don't know how much weight you have to haul around. Look at the new Eclipse concept. 3.8L V6 but it wieghs so much....

i like it, it has a clean, fast design. The front fender lines are unique, and there is no perticularly ugly feature (other than the GTO headlight covers) i could do without the wing , but it's not as bad as the cobalt's.

Limited diff standard would be nice. and if it is sub 2600lbs, expect a mid 14 sec 1/4 mile. That's as good or faster than the cobalt and it's NA.

bottom line : if it's under 24K CAD, i'll take 2.

Nah nothing to worried about. I bet that engine puts out 150lbs-ft of torque tops. And it probably wont respond to boost that well. Well it looks nice and since its a coupe, I know it will make alot of Civic fans happy. The current Civic hatch looks terrible and the coupe looks mundane. This coupe seems to be the evolution of the last gen Civic coupe that the current model should of been. Thats said you'lll probably never see me in Civic ever. Although I don't plan on buying a car for a couple years, if I were in the market now. It would be a choice between the Cobalt SS or Mazdaspeed 3.

Its based off the current i-vtec platform. So its not like they are building a whole new motor. Please dont tell me something silly like "the i-vtec sux on boost. Because if you read post on clubsi.com there are a few people with 03/04 100% stock except running 8psi of boost and they are running low 13's. I watched a video of a 100% stock civic with 8psi added and that was it. I think they did injectors though. Ran a 13.2. Yup sounds like they will suck on boost.

Whether you like honda or not is your own opinion, but you gotta admit its a pretty nice car. I really like it.

I honestly don't like it. Am I the only one who thinks it looks almost like a G35 from the side?? Combination of the Accord and Infiniti G35 or something, I just don't like it. And you can just look at the concept and tell it's going to be heavy. Anyway, what compelled you to say a Honda motor won't handle boost well? Have you looked around to notice that the epitome of handling boost is a Honda motor? Maybe you meant to say that the Z24 engine can't handle boost because it'll throw the #3 rod? Oh well, not my cup of tea.

Don't start man. Yes, the people who know, will recognize that Honda is very capable manufacture.

I like the fact you already starting with 200HP on N/A. You can only go up from there.
Wondering if Honda is bringing "the wishbone" front suspension? hmmm

I agree Mr. GoodWrench, its nice to start with 200hp. Sure the Redline/Cobalt SS/ and SRT-4 have more, but they are already boosted.

I said the car was nice and also said its what the current gen Civic should have been looks wise. 200hp is nice but the 140ish lbs-ft of torque is not. As far as boost goes on stock internals, the old LD9 can take 10psi of boost on completely stock internals. 8 pounds of boost isn't that big a deal. Although with a 200hp to start from 8 pounds may be enough. So you do have a point there. It could make up for the lack of torque. Thats said, I'd still rather have the Cobalt SS or Mazdaspeed 3 over an 06 Civic Si. I'd take a non supercharged Cobalt SS over a Civic Si. I'd take the extra 30lbs of torque over the extra 25hp. As my personal preference is towards cars that have more low end grunt.

Please enlighten us where did you get that torque figure? 200HP is confirmed. But the torque is not. If Honda is using the 2.4L then that engine is rated at 200Hp and Torque is at 166.
That is pretty good don't you think? I mean the 2.4L Ecotec is going with 170HP and 162 torque (from the soon to be release Saturn Sky). So Honda has more torque, whoa never thought you would here that huh?

Yeppers!

And that comes really handy on a FWD car.

As for the Mazdaspeed 3, yhea I would like to see what Mazda will bring out.

Mr.Goodwrench-GT is the man. If he says something I believe it =P He's usually got his @!#$ straight and very intelligent on the new vehicles comming out and what they are claimed to be capable of.

I enjoy reading his post such as this one. Keeps me enlightened on all the new vehicles, but I can be lazy and not have to search.

Its pretty pointless to argue with you Mr.Goodwrench....its like arguing with a dictionary about spelling =/ Just doesn't work, haha. But atleast when people do argue with you its an adult disagreement and not just an arguement =P

My nutt swinging is done for the day. I just enjoy reading this stuff but i'm too damn lazy to search for it.
