Yes. Direct Bolt-On in fact

I've been a member here since 2001. I had just gotten my license then, and had my first car a little before I had my permit. I've been on this, and many other forums for a long time. I've read many posts made by many different people, some of these people were well educated in respect to cars, and some were just learning.

In all of my experiences, I don't think I've ever come across something as dumb as this.

The answer is no. Don't even think about it. If you had enough money to mod it to fit, you could build a turbo cav motor that would out perform putting a stock evo motor. That being said, if you were doing it for originality, you wouldn't be on here asking these questions. Have a wonderful day.

I've been on forums since 1999. According to me YOU just made the dumbest post ever. I always thought posting a reply would actually mean posting a reply to the question that the above person has put.

Putting an evo engine in a cavalier is possible but would require a lot of money. Like someone already mentioned you can build your engine and make a very nice turbo setup for that kind of money.

I was just asking a simple question boss, I just wanted to see if it was possible. Because of the way the motor sets. I have seen a tsi motor in a colt

IMO putting a different brand motor in a car is retarded. But whatever. Anything possible with enough cash. But your going to invest $15K+ in a 96 cavalier because????
I mean think about it, its highly unlikely your going to find a EVo engine ina junkyard, so your going to have to buy it off someone who will know what it is, or buy a EVO and take the moro out, or buy the engine direct from Mitsu, IF you can eve do that. So $5K for a engine, $3K for a tranny, and IF you can custom fab alot of metal work, you still have to pay a ton for metal, not to mention the engineering, So lets say you do it. and you maybe shy away with only having to put 10K in to it. You have $10K in a $2k and its now worth MAYBE $7K, To boot the car will still not handle well not to mention the fact that your putting 300+ HP in it, SO your going to need to upgrad your suspension and unibody frame, so $2K in air/coil overs. $1K in frame work. now your at 15 in a car that is almost a decade old. Dude, dave your money and time and pick a better engineered car.

wow. just wow.

do you realize the evo is AWD??? and whoever said turbo cavi has as much potential as a 4g63 is just wrong. but it would be dumb to put it in a cavalier.

uhm maybe not in turns but in a straight line you would be owned
sorry
1000+hp ecotec
1000+hp quad4

you can build a cavy engine pretty stout

Re: Evo

yep spent twice as much making 1000hp eco as you would for 1000hp evo too.
Re: Evo

yeah because we dont have aftermarket companies humping us

if our parts cost the same
we could build it for about the same
well id just go up to 1200hp

Re: Evo

do you know anything about cars??? there is a HUGE different from a econobox ecotec and a 4g63.
Re: Evo

yes
but dont give a @!#$ about most imports
especially mitsu and honda

i mean mitsu had to drop out of world rally last year
thats sad for them

Re: Evo

LOLOLOL if thats sad, were does that put the ecotec. quit owning yourself you just made yourself look like more of a tard.
Re: Evo

Anyways,,, as already stated this isn't something thats feasible if you have to ask.
The reason you've seen a 4g63 from a tsi/gst put into a mirage/colt is because that is a pretty straightforward swap. A mitsu engine in another mitsu car (mirage and colt are the same thing) isn't exactly the same as into a GM car.

I have seen some 4g63 (evo, eclipse/talon) engines in a few hondas, a few old cars, and a beretta. All were very custom of course.

Possible? yes. You can do any kind of swap, if the right funds and experience are around. Is it pratical? No.

Have a good one,
Justin

That would be a wiring nightmare. I'd think the 3800 SC swap would be just as potent and just as cool, while being nowhere near the headaches.

~240hp is no where close to the 300+ hp the Evo is. Cheaper and easier? Yes, Just as potent? No. Plus the 3800 probably weighs more.

Pulley and u-bend delete will put you pretty close to that figure right there. What I should have said was the POTENTIAL is there. Either way, the biggest problem you'll have won't be a 5-15 horse discrepancy, it'll be keeping the tires gripping.
