This is for XP, but the process is more or less the same for all other flavours of Windows.

KavyKid: Yeah... but if you touch-type, it just means you can do it faster with less strain on your hands and wrists.

It's not that big of an adjustment once you get used to it, I hardly ever look at the keys to type anyhow.

If you plan to go to college or work in a computer related field, it'll make a bit of a difference

I have a Mac, which is enough deviation from the norm for me. qwerty may be inferior, but like I've heard countless times from Windows users, it's what I know.

--Side note: It still turns my stomach to think of new Macs wil Intel chips. So much for offering an alternative to mainstream...

But the new Macs with the intel chips are running on less power, building less heat and doing your work faster. Isn't that what you want in a machine. The user experience is defined by the OS. If you liked Macs before, you'll like the news ones even more.

You wanna be different, macs aren't different, they're trendy, get a caruso based lunchbox PC and mount it on the ceiling, that should be different enough for you.

For me it's like seeing a really hot chick and finding out she used to be a man. Apple could have used an AMD or one of the other fast chips out there. And yes, I'm a Mac fanboy, been using them since OS 6.

Hmmm... ceiling mounted PC... So when it crashed I have to throw tennis balls at it until I smack the reset button? I could mount the keyboard under the keyboard tray and type with my hands on my lap, palms up. The mouse would sit on my desk upside-down with a jawbreaker instead of a ball, and I could lick it to move the cursor and smash my forehead on it to click.

Gotta get some liquid nails and re-config my setup!!!

I have been debating switching to DVORAK... however, I don't think that the home computer would be changed as it is shared... now my lappy on the other hand...

What if you learned to type faster, and could go longer with less errors?

Would that be worth your 1-2 hours? Look at it like this, when re-building your transmission with new gearing, wouldn't it make some sense to bone up on how your 0-60, 0-100 and 60 ft. times are going to be affected?
