What about underdrive pulleys?

Lightened pulleys underdrive the accessories driven by the drive belt by changing the diameter of the crank/eccentric shaft (main) pulley. Underdriving also allows you to reduce the drain of each of the accessories off the crankshaft.

Alternator pulley

AEM makes an alternator pulley for the 2.4L LD9 engine, which is larger and lighter than the factory pulley; this slows down the alternator and frees up some HP. The downside of this modification is that if you have a high-current-draw from a large stereo, this may not be for you as it reduces the useable output of the alternator.

Crank pulley

The factory crank pulley weighs in at 4.7 lbs. If you have a 2.4L LD9 engine, you can also replace the factory pulley with the pulley from the 2.3L Quad 4 HO engine; it is GM part #24573264. It weighs in at 3.4 lbs and is of a slightly smaller diameter. Unorthodox Racing makes a crank pulley for the LD9 as well, it is even smaller and weighs only 14 oz!
