So I went to the junkyard today and got a new switch for my headlights/turn signal cause the old one stopped working. Accidentaly got the one without cruise control but I took care of that

That was god awful to take apart and reassemble but it's in now and working fine as far as I can tell. I was just wondering since the old one went bad, what are the odds of it going out again and is it a better idea to just buy a new one? I saved a lot of money and even if I have to buy a another one at the junkyard it's still like half the price of a new one off ebay. Some of the things that plug in on the old one looked a little browned on the ends, not sure what that means (probably not good haha) cause I don't have a whole lot of experience with electrical stuff. Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks!
Personally I've never had to replace mine yet on my 2000 cav. You have a 97 fire, so it could be simple 10 yr old part dieing. I still think getting a wreckers part might save you some money in the long run, ofcourse you are taking a chance.

Best bet would be to clean the contact points if you're seeing corrosion on them. Maybe follow that up with a little di-electric gel to keep things looking good. On junkyard parts you're basically just taking a chance on their condition and how much life THEY have left. Some things I would get from a junkyard, definitely (like your headlight switch.) Things like alternators and tie rod ends, new all the way!
I think you'll be okay with this part, man--any doubts, grab a spare
Ok so the first switch I got crapped out on me (go figure) so I went back and ripped one off a Cavy that had cruise control and everything this time haha. When I first plugged it in the turn signals wouldn't come on. After a few minutes they started working and it's been fine ever since. So I guess problem solved untill something else decides to go wrong with it.
