2000 z having major troubles idleing...

my dad's 2000 z24 has been having some major issues with idle as of late, it will hunt bigtime between 2500 and 1000 rpms, up and down, up and down CONSTANTLY... and sometimes it just blows straight up to 4000 and stays there.

back story, 2 weeks ago he bounced it off a real steep inlet to a driveway and its been having trouble ever since.

it throws codes for the idle air control system and sometimes throws MAP and tps codes. weve literally changed everything that has to do with the throttle, including the throttle body and intake manifold. all vaccum lines have been changed or checked and are fine. MAP, tps and IAC sensors have all been changed several times to different ones and nothing works. its still got the issue.

any ideas on a fix? thanks.

More info on this. Do you mean the front of the underneath of the car hit the concrete? If so maybe it hit some wires? Maybe jared the ECU?

well he was backing up the driveway and at the bottom of it there is a steep dropoff that you need to take to get into it, and unfortunately he took it to fast and WAM it smacked the underside of the engine compartment.

we've checked the wiring and all SEEMS ok, even the large harness that runs along the lower radiator support brace. havent checked the computer plugs or anything yet though...

check all your grounds, including the battery tray, engine block, etc. pull the passenger side fender liner, take the PCM out, unhook the harness and hook it back up to make sure the connections are solid and to reset the PCM. make sure the brake booster vacuum line is good and solid.

also, as it's idling, spray some carb cleaner around the injectors to check for leaks around them.

I am having idling toubles with my 2000 z also. Mine idles at 1500 or more. I have put a different IAC in, TPS in and I am about to do a MAP sensor. Then I noticed that my voltmeter was twitching while my car was idling. I am thinking that it might be the alternator causing at least some of my troubles. Maybe your alternator is going out as well.
