Never have I ran into this problem with a j car until now, maybe someone can shed some light.

Basically the trip odometer is illuminated even when the keys are removed from the car and it reads 0.0 While on it will flash the current mileage for a few seconds then go right to trip odometer 0.0.

I've searched and people have had the odometer flash during actual driving but this is while the car is off and key is out of ignition.
