2.2 misfiring
Wednesday, August 05, 2009 1:48 PM
ok so i have a 04 cav 2.2 ecotec. and it has "multiple random misfires" according to my friends scanner.
right off the bat i think coil packs... but my step dad sends it to a mechanic while im at work.
mecahic tries the coils and that gets it to a "single cylinder misfire" supposedly and so he tries fuel injectors.
that doesnt work so he takes everything off and prepares to ship it out somewhere else.
i say no and it is on its way back to my house. im going to try new coil pack, boots, and wires tomorrow. any other ideas??

Just me.......... but if Step Dad is trying to help and maybe even footing the bill..........why not let him??? Is it possible that he is just trying to connect with you? being a stepdad really is not any easier than being the step son.

I too would check plugs. Also check all the connections to the coil and ignition modules though having been unplugged and reconnected multiple times they are probably fine.

it turned out to be a combo of coil pack, ignition module, and a bad plug. all better
