Hi everyone! I took the muffler off my car and just ran the straight pipe out the back. I know I'll get flamed for it but it honestly wasn't for sound, performance, etc. My engine noise sucks and no matter how much I turn up the radio I can still here my electric engine like noise from the engine so I figured at least I'd rather hear a loud ass exhaust then the stupid engine. So I guess it was for sound. Anyways on to my question...
I was told that having my muffler off can burn my valves is this true? Someone at work told me being winter time it can suck in cold air and burn my valves. Do I need a muffler? Thanks!
That doesn't sound right to me, i don't know much about the mechanics of cars, I am more of an electrical person, but that doesn't seem to make any sense.
First off, in all the forums to choose from, you somehow decided Off Topic would be the best place to put it.
Second, you didn't want to hear the sound of your engine because it is too loud so you.......TOOK OFF YOUR MUFFLER??!?!
Third, how can an exhaust suck in cold air? Where would the fumes leave, through your air filter? How can cold air "burn" valves? How does a valve stay warm in winter and no insulation?

no takin ur mufler off will not burn up your exhasut valves, the muffler that most of us have on our rides are a straight through design, with nearly no back pressure n e wayz, if you would take one off, and look thorough it, you would think its simply a straight pipe
