hey i'm taking my a/c out, could anyone who's done the same let me know what size belt you got. i don't feel like taking mine off and checking with string for length. i'm also planning on getting pullies most likely from cavalierconnection or something, so what size belt would i need for no a/c and a pully kit?
ya... i went to the local parts store and they said that wouldn't work. did you take your a/c out. what i was told was that you need to get some sort of tensioner. did anyone have to do this and has anyone taken they're a/c out and put in pullies?
I have done this, it is as simple as the Non-AC belt, most of the time people at the parts store don't have a clue what it is that you want or what will work, you have to think for yourself, the reason that they told you it wouldn't is on most Cars you would have to install an idler of some type in place of the compressor, But the wonderful 2200 design dosent need it, helps to look at the belt routing diagram and see the dashed line for no AC

that's what i thought. it didn't seem that i needed a tensioner, but the guy at the desk assured me that i did, and that i'd need to take off the belt and measure a rope. oh well, what about with a pulley kit though?
I'd just get the belt for no AC and leave the parts there. Who know if in the future you'll change your mind about it.
Why in the name of God are you guys taking out your ACs? :-)
You are freakin hardcore is all I got to say.
Is the performance gain really WORTH losing your comfort?
I'm not bustin' chops - just trying to understand it so I can be educated. If you guys want to rip out your seats and stand in the car to save weight, it's all good.

mine doesn't work anyway lol plus i need to save room up in that area
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
so what exactly does removing the a/c do? i know one less load on the belt freeing up power but how noticeable is it? im just curious

Not noticeable at all.
And these guys are right. You only need the non-a/c belt....trust me, I did the same thing.
If you're doing it for the "gains", don't bother.

Well because my ac is screwed up anyways. After the motor swap it is not wanting to hold a charge. I was just curious to whether it is worth it or not.
You are Damn right I am hardcore...
And for your info the Ac Compressor is pretty damn heavy...

aint that heavy.......modern ac systems are only about a hundred pounds tops.......thats only a tenth of a second faster........I woldn't sacrifice the comfort of it just to save a tenth, id find other things to rip out, like insulations. now if your ac doesn't work.........id rip it out
