brake booster hose problems

Im sure its pure coincidence but when i put my 60mm TB on my vacum brake booster hose melted over my header. I replaced it with a normal high pressure 1/2 inch hose.
The hose I put on I found was way to long and killed my bottom end. Is this cause the extra hose is robbing to much air? I shortened the hose greatly and my car regained the bottom end and was fast as heck! I couldnt believe how much faster it was but when I got down the road a little bit I believe it through a code and ran so bad I had to drive back to work in first gear and it would shake really bad so I would have to let the clutch out ever 20 seconds or so. I put another hose on a little bit longer than the last and it seems to run ok but I am now curious about the whole situation.
Does any one know anything about this? Is there any extra way to free more power? Can I get a vacuum resevoir and pump and use this to eliminate or reduce the use of my brake booster and free power?

I don't have the same problem, but I had the HO manifold on my car, so I don't have the black metal pipe that comes from it. Anyone know where to get it from?

The length of a vacuume hose reaaly shouldnt matter, However the inner diameter, does matter. Are you using the same i.d.? YOu may be restricting it too much, or your crimping it or bend it somewhere.
