hey i was thinkin of tradin my 2200 for a 2.4 or 2.4 eco. what engine do u think is faster? i have read about people hittin 15.4's stock with and eco and 2.4's runnin 16's. why is that if the 2.4 has more tourqe and hp? which one should i get?

first you're talking about the 2.2 eco not the 2.4 eco which is not out yet. also if you would just search you'd find that there is not more than .1 or .2 difference in them with advantage to the 2.4. I'd take the eco just because you'd probably get lower miles and it's the new engine, not the old, and it's got just as much potential.

Even though I love my 2.4

Ditto, go with the 2.2L It will be better in the long run.

The 2.4 is better for bolt on's...but in the long run and for boost the eco wins. With the ION and Cobalt out...there will probably alot more aftermarket now.

anything can effect times. track conditions, driver, temp. whatever.

I ran a mod 15 with my 2.4L auto with an IE. Sooo...

As for it being slower with most people, there are not many 2.4L out there with very low miles. Also, it's an Iron block. Can take alot of abuse but it's heavy. Takes two people to life my 2.4L around. I can lift an Eco by myself (with mild damage to my tendons.)

sorry about the 2.4 eco thing it was kinda late and i was sleepy. yeah ill prolly get an eco just because i can go to a dealer and pay the car in payments. that way i can afford it with the job that i have now.

round 300 of the eco 2.4 battle eco is off to an early lead with the 2.4 nipping at it's heals.

LD9... but i'am biased... i wouldnt get an Eco... plus i can easily rebuild my 2.4 for alot less than getting a new car... but thats me...

Eco is prolly a better choice tho as it is the newer engine and is really being backed by GM...

Actually there is a 2.4 eco now, I believe its somethin like 170hp, its in the new 2006 ion/cobalts.

but the thing is you can't buy a car with that engine yet.

funny, on saturn.com I don't see any saturn with a 2.4 eco available to buy, got any links for what you're claiming ? I'm saying they aren't available now.

I think you may be thinking of the supercharged 2.0 that is on the Ion redline and the Cobalt SS. I didnt think they were going to go through with the 2.4.

Go to a saturn dealer, they are listing it on the site because they are still pushing 2005's. Im not an idiot I know the difference between a 2.0 supercharged engine and a 2.4 V V T engine. Go to a dealer and ask them about a 2006 with the 2.4 eco option, its a 700 dollar mark up option from the 2.2.

That guy is either lying or doesn't know what he is talking about. First off he contradicts himself saying he baught a 2006 and then at the end of the post he says he wanted to thank Jerry the sales associate for helping him track down the 05. Second I called Saturns customer number on their web page to request info on the 2006 redline and they told me the 06 redline isn't in production yet and that they won't have any info on it until late august just like every other car that sells in the U.S.

He said he was looking for an 05 with ABS and the travel package. When it couldnt be found they hooked him up with an 06.
