Which would give quicker acceleration?

I got 800 bucks to spend. im buying something but which would give me quicker acceleration for the time being? first off i have aem cai, upper and lower motor mounts, plugs, and wires as far as performance. now will rsm 62mm tb, rsm light weight crank pulley give more exceleration than rsm ceramic coated header, magnaflow high flow cat, and magnaflow exhaust? which one will give me quicker acceleration for the money? not looking for hp gains, just where the power will be, ie mid to high or low to mid and which is better for the money. thanks

to be hnest the gains with eaither option will be minimal, but I'd recomend the full exhaust first, you already have some modification to the intake side of flow, no matter how much it can flow in if it can't flow out it wont make power

Upgrading your exhaust will probably help you more than the pulley and throttle body but you have to remember that different parts will give different types of power outputs on each vehicle but in your case, an exhaust sounds good.

Heres what I would do:
OBX polished SS header off ebay: $205 (better than the RSM header)
Megan Racing catback off ebay: $320 (very nice system, sounds good too)
Carsound OBD2 2.25 in/out cat off ebay: $56
RSM crank pulley: $180

Grand total: $760

This would definitley help out alot. I wouldn't worry about getting a larger throttle body. The 62mm tb greatly exceeds the volumetric efficiency for a non-boosted 2200, and you would lose most, if not all of your bottom-end power and acceleration.

you can save more by having a catback custom made. try knocking about 150 off the price of a catback

I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

yeah dont buy a premade catback....just get the muffler and all the other pieces and have exhaust custom made

sweet, i was heading the exhaust way myself, no i dont care about its a 2.2 save my money type of deal. have to work with what i have do i not? how is the obx header better than the ceramic coated rsm? i just had another post on a headerback setup but still any info/comments/experience stories are still good to hear. i know everything works like a puzzle for everything else but nj your right i already modified the intake a little better help out the other side of it. right now im shooting for having my motor done ( for this year ) by like november so then its getting colder out and i dont have to worry about trying to change out TB in like 30-40 degree weather i can focus my attention on interior work, or order rims and tires and Type J over the winter and let my junk accumulate and in spring get it all put on and head to the bash with a finished car. but anyway alright exhaust sounds like the way to go. oh im doing the dual magnaflow is that a noticeable difference over a single? or yes but not too much?

dual exhaust is just for show. go with single

...yep duals just make too much noise (more exhaust volume in the pipes) and add probable 40 lbs. to the rear of your car. I know, I had one, then switched back to a single exit. go with a single catback, trust me.

yeah i understand the more noise thing cause 2 canisters equals twice the sound. did you notice a difference when you changed back acceleration wise? how noticeable was it?

I'd definitely get the exhaust and a header, at most i'd spend 500 on the full exhaust. Then get a light-weight flywheel, that setup would probably leave ya pretty happy. The flywheel cost about $300.

How is dual just for looks...? Thats a crock if I've ever seen it. Yes its louder, but it turn, doesn't it make for more exhaust to exit faster, hence more power...? I'm talking about ACTUAL dual exhaust by the way. Two pipes, two muffles, two everything, lol.

Are you kidding? On four cylinder cars duals don't help, on v6 or v8's, yes, they are better. but on four cylinders having the split in the pipe to create the dual exhaust decreases exhaust flow and causes turbulence. Therefore resulting in less horsepower. You can't have an actual dual exhaust on an inline four.

how much power loss are we talking here though. im trying to weigh my options over a single exhaust.

its not that you're really going to lose power with the duals, you just wont gain anything over a single exit running the dual exit exhaust, plus it'll add a little weight. as someone said earlier, its mostly just for show, and depending on how the exhaust system is put together, IMO duals can look pretty good.

....yes, no power LOSS, but itll probably change your power band a bit, put more in the top end and less on the bottom. but as we have said, the weight gain isnt worth it. but if you like the look, go for it, its your car!

Hey Carbon Cavi, the OBX header isn't necessarily better than the RSM header. They're both just as good, but the OBX is cheaper. Since your on a budget, the OBX would be the way to go. I've had the OBX header on my car, and the quality is top-notch. I ended up switching to the Pacesetter because it was CARB legal, and the OBX wasn't. Also, I'll say it again, I wouldn't waste your money on the larger throttle body. Its way too big for the motor. You'll end up losing most of your off-the-line power.

well i was on a budget till i found out i worked 14 more hours than i thought i did this week, and im working another 80 next week. im exhausted out of my mind but now i dont have to worry about what to get to be faster for another week lol. ive been told 62mm tb from rsm youll loose bottom end but it hits hard on top end. which is fine by me cause i only race from a roll. thanks for your guys input so far, i like how you guys are giving me suggestions instead of oh this will suck on your car or this is bad buy this instead. you guys have been cool, appreciate it. keep em comin though!
