Are you curious about the sound or the "gains"?

As far as gains, it will be just like any other cat-back system, honestly...it's piping & a muffler.

Sounding wise...I hear some people don't like their mufflers and the cat-back setup doesn't have resonators so you will probably be dissapointed on the sound portion but it depends on who's listening to it.

i had heard that their mufflers werent too great. i wondered if i were to use pasesetter pipes with a flowmaster muffler if that might improve sound

Well if your going to do that, you might as well have some shop make you a cat-back setup with a muffler and resonator of your choice...could come out the same price or cheaper and you'll have something that you actually like and not modified to your liking.

...yep, Ive personally SEEN a pacesetter system rust and pit, on my buddies civic hb. looked terrible, like a junkyard special. save to get a better system..though the pacesetter header works well, looks nice (the armor coated one)

rusting all depends on where you live , the pipes are aluminized steel

if you live in a area that uses road salt , or rains excessively , rust can be a problem

and with road salt if you dont wash the exhaust like you wash your car the salt will eat through causing rust alot sooner

there is no resonator

some cars ive heard the exhaust on sounded good , others needed a resonator

the mufflers had been changed recently , so they are quiter than the previous mufflers

well, considering what ive heard here, does anyone have good experiences with a fairly inexpensive catback for 99 2.2 cav?

...magnaflow is what most people seem to have...probably just around $100.00 more than the pacesetter one, and 3X better quality. SOunds nice, too.

I had the Pacesetter cat-back (that I ordered from Summit Racing) for about a year and a half. The sound wasn't too bad, however it was just a bit raspy at times especially when cold, when at full throttle, and while slowing down. Personally I disliked the black paint and yellow tip that extended from the muffler, plus how far the tip stuck out from the rest of the car.

Since that time though, I have switched to a custom cat back with a Magnaflow muffler and the difference is amazing. I recommend going with another option rather that Pacesetter. Hope this helps bro!
