Hissing noise

I wasnt sure if this post should go under performance or maintenance, but i figured thats if i dont fix it its gonna affect the performance, so why not go performance? anyway somethin under the hood is making a horrible hissing noise, but goes away when i turn on the defrost. i dont know if its the compressor or something other than that? i'll be the first the to admit i dont know that much about engines, but i know enough. but does anyone have a clue what it could be? it almost sounds like bad bearings...like they arent lubed. i dont know....help would be appreciated.

a loud vacuum leak would make you idle pretty high and crappy... it must be in the hvac system

haha i wish it were boost. its like i said it sound like bad bearing more than a hissing noise kinda, and it doesnt do it all the time...say if my car is running for an hour it will run fine, then maybe for like 10mins it will do it. but also like i said it will stop if i turn the defrost on but will come right back if i turn it off. it doesnt sound anything like a leak really, i guess "hissing" wasnt the right word to it. i dont know im lost....maybe i'll just coat everything with wd40 lol j/k
