Basically i got a 93 2.2 for free that has SUPER low miles on it. My 97's going to go soon most likely now that i have boost. Any one know if theres a difference in the 2 motors, i know that 94-97 are the same, but what about the 93? I know some of you could careless. But if anyone know anything please let me know.

1996 s10- 97 ECU and wiring, soon to be boosted daily driver.

This should help you out a bit. But as long as you are swapping the entire motor, you'll have a tad more work to convert to OBD1.




I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

I replaced my 93 engine with a 95. Along with what's in the link above, I found the following differences:

Exhaust manifold uses smaller diameter runners and a different seal on the outlet.
Throttle body on the 95 engine had no connection for a kickdown cable (not a problem for you)
Heater hoses were routed differently.
The housings on the back of the water pump for the heater hose and lower radiator hose are different.
The thermostat housings are different. They look the same, but they're not.
The alternator brackets are different.
The 3rd gen engine mounts are different.
The belt tensioners are different.
The injectors deliver slightly less fuel in 93-94. In 95-97 they are 17lbs/hr vs 16 in the older engine.
The injectors are wired differently in 93. The injector harness from the later engine can be used.
All minor, but good to know about before the parts stores close.

Oh, and the 93 engine felt much slower than the 95. It's a good thing you have that turbo.
