I did an extensive search for oil pumps and found nothing other than Melling pumps. I tried www.melling.com for a part number and found nothing. Does anybody have the part number for the 2.3L high volume oil pump or even the 2.4L pumps?????

Time to get it going again.....
Are you looking for a inline fuel pump or intank fuel pump?

hey the melling 2.4l part # is M205hd Look for that one we dont sell it at advanced though but that should be it the regular pump # is M205 and the hd is for hevy duity.
is their a company that makes a direct bolt on oil pump for the 2.4 with no balance shafts?
Do you guys think that the oil pump in the 2.4L will bolt up to the 2.3L?????? And by the way, thanks a ton guys!!!!!!

Time to get it going again.....
dont use the 2.4 on the 2.3! the 2.3 is MUCH better than the 2.4. why do you think that everyone wants to swap to the 2.3l style on there 2.4???
2.3 oil pump > 2.4 oil pump. At least... the HO anyways. I am not sure if the LO and HO use the same oil pump. I would think not but you can never be sure.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
I look on Autozones web site and the '89 2.3 HO and the '97 2.4 had the same part number, Melling M-136. PartsAmerica.com lists the M136 for the '89 2.3 and the M205 for the 2.4L. Go Figure!
the 88-94 2.3 pump is pt#: M136. There is no heavy duty or high volume version available. This pump is physically twice the size of the 95-up pump and is directly gear driven by the crank at nearly the same rpm as crank speed. One sucky thing about it is that it has a built in, stamped, non-servicable bypass assembly. It really makes no difference that it does, but sometimes it would be nice if it could be adjustable.
the 95-up pump is pt#: M205. It is half the size of the older pump and because of that, it is driven at 2x the crank speed. It is not driven directly by the crank, rather its bolted to the end of a balance shaft and the shafts are driven by a chain. The high speed causes the pump to cavitate at higher RPM.
I don't see a listing for a HD version of the 95- up pump. HD really means nothing except that the relief is shimmed to open at a higher pressure. The is easily done on the newer pump because the sring is an individual part from the relief components.

Todd, thanks again for the info!! I solely beleive and rely on the word of Protomec. I will be ordering very soon for parts and what not. But I will be going with the all 2.3L and not stroking it. After careful consideration, I will stay all 2.3L and will be using the 2.3L oil pump. Todd, you got mail.

So what would be the effects of just swapping a melling pump in on the 2.4 and leaving everything else as is, including the balance shafts.
