nitrous ? turbo? which way should i go? opinions?

i had a turbo kkit on my car for 6 mnths then i broke the man so i took it off and sent a extra motor to the machine shop to be built . ( its a 2200 ) ill be getting the engine back in about 2 weeks . in the mean time ive been picking up stuff like a dual stage boost controller ,msd dis 2 ,coil packs ,interface mods, safc, and so on all i lack is intercooler and piping .also tunning . but i rode in a friends car with a 130 shot wet nitrous and he said why dont you go with a direct port setup at 150 shot or higher since the motor will be built ? so i started thinnking about it and im confused . any help/ lol

definately go for the boost since you have most of the parts but you this dosent mean you cant also nitrous it too. your car turboed with even a small 35 shot will feel great man good luck

Boost, I hate having to fill a bottle. I had nitrous at one point in time, it was fun, but it wasn't what I was looking for. I like having my power all the time.

Nitrous is so hard on a motor. Go boost. You'll save more $$$ in the longrun.

How is Nitrous that much harder on an engine?

You never have to refill a turbo. And the statement that nitrous is harder on a motor than boost isn't exactly true. It just depends on the application, how it is used, how it is tuned, and how much with what supporting mods.

what is the biggest shot you guys have heard on a j-body? if i went nitrous i was going with a direct port system with a 150 shot . outside of the engine being built im running a areomotive ad fpr ,walbro pump, msd dis 2 with coils and interface blocks . so do you guys think it would hold ? LOL! i also had the trans beefed up with clutches and a shift kit .

I had nitrous at one time, and then a few years later I went with turbo. If I had to do it all over again, I would go straight to boost.....or maybe boost n' juice.

Go boost. It's more reliable and it's legal to have on a street driven car. Nitrous is illegal on the street, and trust an old street racer that got caught, if you GET caught using the bottle on the street, you're in deep.

no, no, no. not illegal in all states. in my state its not illegal in any from unless you get caught using it in a race and then you get a ticket not for n2o but for street racing.

mmmmmm boost n' juice....

the only reason i see to use n2o and turbo is to have a small shot to help spool a large turbo for a heavy top end car.

Because you can only use it at full throttle. With boost, you can beat someone and not slam the gas all the way down if you have enough power.

Yeah, that's why they call it "The poor mans boost". But you get what you pay for...temporary power. I mean, I don't think you would feel all that great driving around a 16 second car and only become a 14 second car for a matter of seconds, see my point?

Ronin wrote:Go boost. It's more reliable and it's legal to have on a street driven car.

Bam! That's it right there. Me personally, I'm a street aka daily driving person and don't go to the track everyday. I'd like to have a little bit of power even if I'm not racing someone and don't want to have to go to the track just to have a seconds of power for a moment.

Well I'm sure we've had 125 shot people but remember, when you hit that switch that's alot of nitrous to hit instantly. You're gonna have to worry about traction big time. Not saying you wouldn't with a turbo but in most cases it's more of a gradual power as it spools up (in some cases).

Or maybe if you are running around 28psi, want more power, but getting to close to maxing out the 3 bar map.

Single turbo supra? Ok. J-car? No.

I was seriously thinking about nitrous with boost before I pulled the motor and crap out of the car. If I was able to run 22-25psi without any problems, I would have thrown on a little 35-50 shot.
