Hey all. I just got the Pacesetter 4-1 header for my 05 Ecotec Sunfire, and am contemplating getting the full exhaust. My question is, with the stock exhaust setup for the Ecotecs, is a high-flow cat necessary for power gains??? And if so, which do you recommend for my car??? The downpipe is 2 1/4" I believe, so the proper sized catalytic converter would need to be the proper size. Any advice???

Necessary as far as air flow, maybe...but I would do it to keep the same diameter as the rest of the exhaust system since you're getting a bigger size. If you didn't do it, it would somewhat be choking your exhaust and decrease your performance because of it.

What Adam ^ said. I'd go ahead and pick up one from Magnaflow. The part number is 94035
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
I wouldn't waste my time or money doing a header without a matching hi flow cat. I am running the ps 4-1 and the 94035 cat. Get a resonator to.

I got the 4-1 pacesetter, high flow magnaflow cat, and magnaflow catback single and together it all works great, but after about 3 months my cat is clogged :-(

Agreed, if you're gonna add a header (and cat-back, I wouldn't add a header without doing the rest of the exhaust) you might as well match the cat size up with the rest of the exhaust.

Are cats are hiflo anyways. If your just going to do 2.25" i'd just have cat pipe widened a little bit. Stock is like 2" anyways so it's not a bad stretch. Especially seeings how your car is so new and don't have to worry about a bad or failing cat.
OK, so the verdict is yes then.

A poster above mentioned the Magnaflow cat #94035. Where exactly is the best deal at for getting one of those???

Great!!!!!!!!! That's exactly the setup I am going for on my car. How does it sound??? Are there any quality problems I need to worry about???

They are usually for around the same price...I'd just find a place that sells one and buy one.

Mine was like $50 thru www.jegs.com A lot of places carry it tho. I am running almost exactly the same exhaust that carbon cavi is but mine is a rks catback and I have a big resonator.
