Not as much pipe to run thru. So how long was it running without a filter?

Air bypassing the filter now is even less restricted, basically making it a short ram or Warm air (not really, but similar concept). Air takes quickest and shortest route to the motor, only when it separated, it didnt even have to go thru the filter, giving some peppyness in the low end. Restriction down, velocity up, volume of air up, air instantly gets to engine when u touch the pedal with no hesitation, so overall u got a little more power and better response.

That is if I'm understanding the problem correctly.

If air is indeed coming in and not being filtered, get that taken care of right away. U don't need to get crap in your engine. God forbid you get water or too much moisture in there. That little bit of x-tra power feels fun, but not for long if you ruin your car.

Oh i took care of it right away when i saw it disconnected. But i was wondering why my car for 3-4 days was so peppy. There was a significant difference when i put it back on. I then i disconneted it again and put a filter on the end at i was peppy again. Not as peppy as with out the filter but better on the low end.
