what are the benefits of having oversized valves? and overbored pistons?
im just now starting to collect things for my engine build, so prepare for an onslaught of questions lol....
if i get a motor, lets say it doesnt run for some reason.....say its seized up....can i still rebuild it and make it run? if im getting the 20 overbore pistons and 1mm oversized valves......or should i get an engine that was tested and runs good?

personally i don't see the reason for a 1mm oversize valve to gain maybe 3 or 4 cfm's... and the cost of work on your valve seats... screw that.

Depends on how it siezed, if it broke a rod and gouged the cylinders, then probably not, or if the cylinders are too badly scoured that can't be relieved with some overboring.
Pretty much as he said. We have a 97 2.4 (whole) spun a rod bearing at 72k on it. Never been opened except for water pump, if you are interested.
So having +1mm intake valves wouldn't cause the engine to run lean? Regarding Spotabee's arguement, would the power gains from swapping out valves for the oversized ones be enough to justify doing all the work and spending all the money?
If I'm thinking about it correctly, I could see how oversized exhaust valves would help with boost, helping to spool up that turbo quick as hell. Think that's a realistic assumption?
