Should i keep my 2.2 cavalier or buy somthing else? Is there a big aftermarket for the 2.2 and is the 2.2 a ecotec?
Witch year is your car? The eco is from 02+
If it was an eco, it would say it on top.
Otherwise you'll have a 2200(witch also say it on the airbox) or a 2.2 witch is not a pretty engine.

well does anyone know how hard it is to swap in a 2.4 engine and what it would entail? I dont know how to use the search i put in somthin like engine, engine swap, and it always says no results.
Search for "ALL DATES" and you'll find a lot of stuff in this forum. Matter of fact right now there is a thread open about a 2.4L swap.
go to www.car-part.com and you can find engines cheap. You'd need the 2.4L engine, the matching trans which is a 4T40E if its an auto not sure what 5-speed tranny is (I have a 2.4L Auto). You'd also need the pcm (computer) and the wiring harness. You can get a complete 2.4L engine for around $600.00 and the tranny for like $300-400. Then you'd need the computer and harness which should be less than $250 for all of it. Then you gotta pull your entire engine and tranny out. I don't know if the subframes or motor mounts are different so you may need those too. Then you gotta install the computer, mount the engine and trans, and then wire it up which can be a real pain in the ass.
What year is your cavalier? It might be easier to just buy a Z24. But then you'd have a 2.4L which isn't the most reliable engine from GM. I hate it, and will be putting in a GTP supercharged 3800 Series II motor soon.

Not to mention I don't know if the fuel pump is different for the Z cars or not, but if it is you should definately upgrade.

real pain in the ass? ok Co williams, if you have any Qs, you dont have to ask me....but dont refer to him either. the 2.2/2200 to a 2.4 is a very easy swap. going from 5 spd 2.2 to 5 spd 2.4, it took me and one other guys less than one day to do the swap. As long as you have some automotive knowledge, this swap takes the cake for easy ones. And the 2.4 is a reliable engine, i know fo many of them with 150,000 + miles on them that are daily driver with zero problems....the 2.4 is no diff then with any engine, dont beat the crap out of it constantly, and it will be just fine.
