is there any way to put a 305 or 350 traversed with tranny in a 98 cavi? i think that would be a badass idea
no. but people have turn a cav into rwd with a V8. but it took a lot of time, money and frankly, just not worth it.
do a search of V8 Cavalier and youll find pics of them

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
^^^^^ Why is that funny? Hell, I've already seen a Northstar in a friggin VW Golf. Anything can be done with a plasma torch and a welder.
B/c I have a 2200

And it's Auto at that
And no money for that kind of modding....

Im sure if you got a frame off of a RWD camaro or monte carlo if it had a relitavely similar wheel base you couls slap the body onto that frame, it would take alot of work but that would be nice!!

Too bad that both the Monte and Camaro are no where near the size of a Cavalier in wheelbase.
Too bad this post is a repeat and still a waste of good money to do.

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

too bad they're all @!#$ unibodies.... i'm not sure but i think some people need to do some re-search before opening their mouths. yes a rwd swap can be done, for around 15-25,000 (done properly, to pass safety inspection, and also pass NHRA/IHRA regulations.) anything less is just a farmers hack job.
the amount of work it would be to take a car and literally drop it on a frame, you might as well start off with a frame and just re-build all the body panels. you dont drop the car on a frame, you hack off from the bottom of the windshield (firewall) all the way to the back bumper (the floor boards) and then do whats called a "backhalf" to the car, put a 4link in it and rebuild everything else, you would have to modify the firewall so in that case you MUST put a cage in to be complient with any race track's specs they wouldnt pass you through tech otherwise so no racing for you.
i've done all the mesurments, hell i've even started fabbing up some stuff, i said @!#$ it, its just not worth all of the work and aggrivation to do it unless your just building an all out race car.

3rd Gen and later I know for sure is unibody tho. I don't really know too much about the 1&2G's b/c I'm a big 3G guy

Ahh, in that case... Remove floorboards & firewall. Build an NHRA/IHRA legal full cage, put in new floors and firewall (that will fit the 350 and T56 - or built T5 - or 700-R4), and call it done

Well, aside from suspension, narrowing a 12-bolt or 9" rearend to fit, tubs or mini-tubs in the back for 31x10x15's, fuel cell w/ rear firewall, blah blah blah
In other words - a lot of time, money, and BST - blood, sweat & tears

Just don't try to stuff a 454 in like that yellow coupe goin' around here. You'll have no hood, and everybody will know what ya have

lol. I'm thinkin' a built 350 w/ mini-ram or stealth-ram would fit pretty decent if ya made everything fit right

that yellow 454 pwr'd car is a dangerous pile of @!#$, rear end BOLTED and solid mounted to SHEETMETAL mounts, lack of visiblility in the front due to someone not thinking and mounting the engine like a retard, mounting a radiator UNDER the car (yeah that'll last) among a list a mile long...
another problem you'd encounter doing this swap (the reason that 454 is mounted soo bloody high, is the steering, the rack is RIGHT in the road of the engine/trans. also depending on the setup the pwr brake booster is in the way of the head/header/valvecover also even with the abs, etc disconnected.
lots of work, and enginuity would need to take place to make one that is properly done.

^ Yea, I haven't seen the 454 in person, so I don't even know just how crappy it is set-up. IMO, a custom rack could maybe be made up to sit just in front of the oilpan, with the 350 mounted sorta like 4G LT1/LS1 in F-Bodies (ie partially covered by the cowl) to set it back a lil further. That will net you better weight distro, lower engine mounting point, easier steering set-up, etc. For brakes, S10 manual brakes

There's a couple F-Bodies on TGO that are running the S10 MB's, I think one of them lives pretty close to me, too. I'm gonna try to meet up with some of the TGO guys this summer and hang out, learn their cars (esp the ones set-up for 1/4 mile), for my future project

unibody
Camaro History
Spend an afternoon and read about the history. Manitoba is right, they have been unibodies since day 1. They have frame rails connected to the unibody, that's about the closest to a frame you'll get.
^ As you might figure, I went to read 3rd Gen first

Don't have enough time for all of them right now, but this seems rather strange...
Quote:
The Third gen Camaros ranged from 1982 - 1992 , the carbureted engines turned to the tpi(tuned port injection)fuel injection system the rear end gear ratios were changed there was a complete new body style the intake options consist of tpi or in 1983's case CFI (crossfire - injection) which was a very cruddy system which consisted of two throttlebodys and there was also the single tbi system or....... (throttle body injection ) there was no super sport version of the third gen there was only the RS,Z-28,or Iroc - Z the engine choices were a six cylinder or a 305 5.0 liter V8 or the Iroc's engine which was the 350 5.7 liter V8.
It doesn't mention the ole Iron Duke as an engine option. I know for sure there were 'Birds that had the ID, but according to this source, the Camaro didn't have it??? When TGO finally comes back online (been down for over 24 hours for server upgrades, etc) I'll have to check the build numbers. But enough witht the thread jacking

lol

Why people allways ask if different motors will fit in a cavy. It seems like people just wanna go around telling people they are going to swap a motor in to their cavy that would make it fast. Not to bash the people that have done it props to you guys. But they dont relise how much work it is. They just want you to say yes so they can go and masterbate and think about a 600 ci cavalier!!!!!

either do a 3.8 SC swap or an eco swap and turbo it
much easier and a lot less expensive
he doesnt need to do any work look at his REG under engine
"
boobs now with Riboflabin"
I remember i think his name is Raven? He had a white cavalier with a Grand Prix supercharged v6 swapped into it. I remember seeing a video of him just tearing it up with that engine. Basically squealed his tires all the way into 3rd gear from what i remember. It was very impressive.
