Oil Temperature gauge/Questions
Friday, March 10, 2006 9:13 AM
I'm looking for people who have them. More so on a LD9. What temperature does the oil run at? I'm wanting to get one, but have no clue what temperature range our oil is at. Thanks for any info.

As far as mounting it I'm not too concerned. I was thinking either in the oil pan (there is a location on the bottom that some years has a oil level sensor (my 96 has one, but my 01 does not but has the spot for it). I know there is a oil jacket on the back of the block as well. I could always make a t fitting for my oil pressure gauge sending unit and put it there as well. I'm wanting to know which gauge I should get (psi reading wise).

Approx 80 - 130 degs more than your engine coolant.

Just wondering if any LD9 owners mounted this temp gauge from anywhere else than the back of the block or the oil pan? Or are those 2 places the only locations?

I did the back of the block. Works great there.

Would you happen to have a picture of which port you used?

Seems to be 180-200. Has to be very hot days here in FL and highway driving to get close to 210

So, all I need to do tee off my oil pressure gauge coming out of the cam tower, to hook the Oil Temp gauge to?

I'm not so sure I would do that. You want the temp sending unit as close to the motor as possible, so heat is not lost. Put it in the block (easy to do).
