The 95 head and cams, and the custom pistons to lower comp. ratio, I think you have to bore the 2.4 block. I think thats the setup.
Re: Question

Ok thats not all the mods by far but that the setup.

Re: Question

ohhhh the head swap
dont get the 95 head..you want an 086 head...thats an early 90's HO quad head...then cams of your choice of course..youll need the 2.4 head gasket and i believe bore the coolant passages in the head to match your 2.4 block( i think) i would verify with someone else first cus ive heard it a few differnt ways

Re: Question

Ohh ok so is there a member on here who has actually done the swap and can give like a parts list and some hp#'s or quarter times I searched the forums and found discussions on it but nothing like a how to or anything. I dont know much about heads and compression and stuff, but I've been saving up to rebuild my 2.4 and I came across this swap. I meet one guy who says hes looking to put down 235hp at the wheels. Not sure how acurate that is but thats what he said.
Re: Question

Thanks for the help guys.
Re: Question
Wednesday, March 15, 2006 5:19 PM
235 at the wheels?? thats about a 100 hp gain..fi not more..do you REALLY think that can be gained by changing the head?? well it cant to get 235whp N/A will cost you $$$$$$$$
if you change the head, cams, and both manifolds with it you will get some good gains though

Re: Question

I thought that was kinda crazy. But, he was talking bought crank work, machining the black and head, custom pistons, new valve train, the HO comp and oil pump and all that other parts he thought he needed, Im not sure what all that would give you along w/ the 086 head but I though 235 at the wheels was kinda crazy.

Re: Question

oh ..it can be done..karo did it..but go ask karo how much he spent and how much was done....but if anyone says they get over 200whp NA ask for dyno sheets

Re: Question

LOL does he have a sunfire gt and runs 12's. B/c I asked that guy and he said promptly replied w/ a he doesnt know anything about it it's a waste of time and money and to go turbo.
Re: Question

It is going to take a lot of money and time to get an NA with that HP. If you are going turbo that is another thing. I spoken to you already if you are in Tallahassee no where deals with domestics that are any good. You will have to go out of town. There is a place in jacksonville that use to do the turbo for Rksport another guy i know did a turbo on his ecotec there back in 2003 i believe.

YYYYeeeessssss finally!
Re: Question

what kind of work did you have done because as far as i know there is a bit of machine work to get done. I have an engine in Jacksonville i am going to start buying parts for so i can build it up into an NA engine. I also have an intake cam i want to get modified to go in my car because it does not have a cam postion sensor on it. The person that can do it is not answering my e-mails.

Oh yeah you will not find anyone in tallahassee to do that sort of work for you. You are going to have to look for that sort of work out of town. Everyone here works on imports and even then they are not that great most of that machine work is for the muscle cars here.

Ohhhhh Im from Miami. I have plenty of options I wouldnt let these guys up here touch my car. I've seen there work and it takes them months to do day jobs. Im straight.

I would love to get a full build sheet on Karo's motor..... cause that engine is a beast. I know about some of the parts, and work that went into it, but not everything.

I'm looking at doing the Stroker 2.3/2.4 for the drag car..... but that wont be until after this one lets go.... as for the High Compression 2.4 block/2.3 head..... I have yet to see one put out numbers.... but maybe we will soon.
