ECM reflash
Saturday, March 25, 2006 3:32 PM
If I have an auto right now and I'm planning on getting a 5sp and reflashing, can I reflash my auto ECM to a 5sp ECM with my mods?

It would probably be easier to just get a 5spd ecm.

Yeah but that's more money, and I'm going to reflash for my mods anyways. Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper if I could just reflash my ECM to a 5sp and with my mods? Instead of buying a 5sp one and getting that one reflashed.

Could take your PCM to someone like O'Reily's and give them a VIN for a manual. I took a PCM in for a Pontiac and had it reflashed to mine with no issues.

Yea, ummmm. I used to have a J-body...

I don't know? But all I'm asking if I could switch my auto ECM to be a manual ECM with just a reflash.

But look, I'm going to reflash it anyways for my mods to have full potential and I'm going to switch my trans over the summer. If it's possible, can I just reflash my auto to a 5sp with my current mods?

How are you going to "reflash it anyway to meet your mods"?

JBP is a $500 programming thing, for that price, I'd just buy HP Tuners and be able to do it yourself whenever you wanted.

Ya, plu, if you got it re-flashed by JBP, and then flashed by a dealer to be a 5 speed, it's going to erase all the tuff u got from JBP. Correct me if i'm wrong anyone, but i'm pretty sure that's how it works.

And, i'd recommend u not get the reflah through JBP, and instead get the HP tuners software.

Also, when i swapped from a auto to a 5 speed, i just got a 5 speed ecu from ebay from the same year as my car. it was $20.

I must be blind, but I can't find Ecotecs, or even a Cavi on that site.
