gonna be home this weekend, and will have plenty of time to do this so yea.
i just bought a JET 180ø Degree Low Temperature Thermostat and i am not quite sure where it goes. didnt come with anything except the part itself in a clear plastic box.
i needed a replacement for the stock, but i haven't found the time to actually put the new one in. if anyone knows where this thing goes on a 97 2.4L, id really appreciate it. thanks a lot.
not quite sure if this belongs in this forum, or the maintenance forum, so if its outta place please just go ahead and move it
lay under your car.
Find lower coolant hose.... goes to the flat black pipe....... up behind your engine, where the water pump bolts to the pipe, thats where the thermostat goes. 2 8mm bolts hold it together, also one 13 on the pan that holds the pipe up. The stock thermostat is also a 180..... at least in most cases...... once you pull your stock one out, its stamped on the bottom......
I put a 180 AutoZone one in.... it had a 'safety' catch on it to keep it open if the engine was over heating..... that was one hell of a cold winter.....

ok, awesome man, i really appreciate it. thanks a lot
they could have put it beside the head like the 2.3 at least. it must be a PITA to change that damn thing compared to the 2.3.

i just had a battle with a water pump yestarday and today on a 94 z28 camaro. your lucky its just the thermostat.
yea, now that ive looked at it and know where it is and all, fcuk that... lol. next time i take it to the garage in town to have something done, i'll just have them do it for me. its too much of a pain in the ass to do in my driveway. thanks for all the help tho i really do appreciate it.
its not that bad... the bolts for it you get to from the top. most important step is to make sure not to put it in upside down!!!!!!
