If somebody was to take a base modle manual 2200 Cavalier and swap everything out of the Z24 ( motor, tranny, guage cluster, ECU ect..) Would it make a difference in performance? I'm sure a base 2200 that has no option is lighter than a Z24 with all options. Or would doing all of that not really make that big of a difference?

My car has two speeds, fast and faster.
the 2200 has like 115 hp and the 2.4 has 150 hp. so what do you think?

Sorry you must not be getting my point. I have a 2.4 Cavy. What I'm wanting to know is if I take the motor and tranny out of my Z24 and put them in a base modle Cavalier. Would the weight diff from going to the Z24 to a base make a diff in performance? I'm sure the Z24 weighs more because of all the extras is has, power everything ect...

Why don't you just gut the Z24 of all those options you want to get rid of? In all fairness, a Z24 is going to weigh about the same as an RS or LS, there's really not much difference unless it's a convertible, those tend to weigh a bit more because of all the added structural support. Coupes all weigh about the same.
it would definately be easier to just take out the options in the z24 than to swap everything out. The cavalier isn't a high performance vehicle. Meaning, the differences between the 2200 chassis and the z24 chassis are almost non existant. its not like the z06 where its frame is 300lbs lighter than the standard vette, etc etc etc... I say just rip EVERYTHING out of the z24 and call it a day.
