Okay, so I bought an intake from Ebay (Likely a mistake since I went as cheap as possible, 35$ shipped) and I go to put it on today and run into all kinds of problems. First off, I'm just now learning about cars, so I know next to nothing. Keep that in mind.
A) When I removed the stock intake, the directions weren't clear enough to say if I need to remove the box over the top of the air filter. Do I need to leave that on with that big open hole where the stock intake tube was? Or do I need to take that off?
B) Uncertainty about the box aside, I went ahead and stuck it on the throttle body TRIED to get it to fit somewhere. It only came with one coupler, so that was a lost cause. I ended up having to weasel it about until the hood would close while only slightly moving it. However, even though the hood will close, I dont like that it's pushing on the filter. Is there anything I can just move out of the way to make it fit better?
I really need help haha
Woooo bubbies.
I really need to figure this out before I have to drive to school tomorrow morning........................=(

well frist off i know you need to take the air box out. the new filter should sit close to where the stock air box sat. and it really not that hard of a job un bolt old intake stuff slap the new pipe and coupler to the throttle body and of course put the filter on the end of the pipe.
Yeah, thanks man. I finally figured it out after making this desperate post. I feel pretty stupid now. But, I must say my 7$ intake kit with 26$ shipping isn't that bad at all. I was lucky enough to have a K&N filter in my garage that fit perfectly. =) Such a good mod. I love it.

It may seem to be a great deal now, but just wait a month or so down the road, when it starts to trip warning lights and sensors (as a friend of mine had happen). In my opinion spend a little extra money to get something from a well known and trusted brand (Weapon-R, AEM, Injen). Not tryin to flame you or anythin, just givin you a little friendly warning, that there is a good chance that something will go back with it very soon, so i wouldnt get rid of the stock stuff just yet...
Yeah, I kept the stock stuff. However, please, inform me of what could go wrong. I want to be ready for it incase it does happen. I'd worry myself to death if any lights came on.

Nothing of the sort will happen.

Sounds good to me brother.

If he switched to a K&N filter, where is the issue? Aluminum tubing is aluminum tubing, ebay or not. K&N is one of the best filters you can buy. The issue with "ebay brand" intake set-ups is the filter. If you take the filter outside and look into it from the hole you can see right through the "filter element". Dirt, dust, water, etc can get right through hardly interrupted.
Make sure the couplers are tight, the sensor is in correctly, the setup is secured firmly and you should be all set with the K&N filter.
STREET ANTIX, it's coming...
Different intakes have different designs. Some go with the stock box over the TB and some replace it. Can you post some pics of what you've got?
