I've had my SAFC II now for a month and have not installed it yet. Just the other day read a post on the SAFC II and how a wideband 02 sensor would be needed to "properly" tune it. So even though the SAFC can be installed and tuned on a dyno, its not really tuning to its full potential because of the lack in having a wideband 02 sensor??
Can someone please clear this up for me

The purpose of the wideband O2 sensor is so you know what affects the adjustents you make are haivng on your car. If you go to a dyno shop and have it tuned on the dyno they usually have the wideband O2 sensor they use while tuning. It would be the shops wideband, for there use. If you go to a dyno shop and they do not have a wideband then I would not use them anyways.
You can buy your own wideband O2 sensor to hook up to your car and have at all times, but you also need to know what you are looking at and what it means. If you do not then go get it tuned.

The AEM Wideband gauge is an awesome set up. It kept me from getting stupid w/ the cavi when I ran nitrous. Great investment.
I would hold off on the SAFC and get the HP Tuners software. Alot more precise tuning and alot more bang for the buck.

Thanks for the info! At least I feel like I don't necessarily need to purchase the wideband as long as I can piggy back of someone elses to get my car tuned! However, Hybrid, I already have the SAFC II and will use it until I can swap out for the HP tuners software down the road. I should see an even return or more for my SAFC!
Do either of you know what gains can be expected from all bolt ons?
I have an RKSPORT WAI but want to get an AEM CAI in the next few weeks. Should I wait for the AEM CAI before I run on the dyno? Or will the present intake once tuned with the SAFC throw me off course again once I upgrade to a CAI?

Truly the gains between a WAI and a CAI are not much. Myself I prefer a WAI intake, with a cold air duct routing the cold air to the WAI filter. The SAFC is a ok mod to help add or delte some fuel from your car. For a N/A gains can be seen if tunes correctly, how much truly no one can answer that. Every car and every set-up is different. Let us know how it goes.

I've heard the same from quite a few people! Either way, living in the FL heat a CAI will still suck up hot air from the road! One thing I miss is the sound a CAI makes! I plan to get the SAFC installed by the weekend and also hopefully dyno'd by then as well!

Okay, one more time... SAFC any use with cams? Or go straight for HP tuners? I was going to have my SAFC II installed and tuned, but not worth it? Will HP tuners allow me to tune my car the way I want to with my cams?

Well a Wideband o2 isnt requried but it is highly suggested. With a wideband you can get a better and more accurate reading of your air/fuel mistures. An EGT gauge is good to but a wideband is better. Some dyno-shops actually have widebands there they can connect up to your car for tuning and dyno runs. Check with your shop but honestly its good to have a wideband in any scenario.
