engine rebuild

k so iam rebuilding my engine its a 2.4l ld9 5 speed so what happend is we were doing the secret cam swap and timed it a 180 degrees off so you know how that went yeah so i scorded the pistons deep and that makes a hot spot on the piston and we dont want to melt a hole in the pistons. So iam gonna rebuild it.

what i was thinking is building it for high compression but i dont know like a good set up would be cuz i was thinking turbo but that cost to much now so. what would be a good set up for (compression and bore) (ported head stiffer valve springs). This is what i have now header, ho intake manifold ,56mm t/b, lightend flywheel ,stage 2 clutch, lightend crank pulley, secret cams, intake , full exhaust in 2 1/4" probley going to move up to 2 1/2", so any ideas would help most of all i want to know what compression to get and what to bore it out to

Thanks alot
Paul

I am thinking of doing this as well. I have or am getting soon the mods you have. My question is drivability at higher compressions. I think if your really going to make power on NA you need more agressive cams then the secret cams. How high compression your going for? and what overboar?

Probably .020" over that way you've still got a little cylinder wall left. As for compression, remember if you get into the 10:1 range, you'll have to run 93 octane fuel. In my opinion, a nice port job with the head and matched manifolds would work well with the mentioned upgrades you've already got goin on. When the question of reliability is mentioned, any time you mod an engine, especially these, they are gonna be a little cantankerous. It depends on how far you go with it. How much power are you wanting to make and at what cost? You should be able to make in the neighborhood of 170-180 horsepower to the wheels with the mods mentioned. Maybe even a little closer to 190 with the proper tune. Good luck.
