ok the car has sat for over a year and I finnaly have a good job to beable to fix it. Im going to just keep it N/A for right now (might try a 50-75 shot in the future) Im buying a rebuilt 086 2.3L head this week and going to do some polish work. my question is should I try some bigger injectors as well?? Im plaining on useing HPTuners as well as all my bolt on's in my registry and my secret cams. Im buying some HO injectors and the early style HO header tonight but my question is should I buy the HO injectors?? do you think I could benifit from them in the future when I get the HPtuner??
Thanks

Yes.
You can always trim back fuel with hptuners.
Use the 90-92 Ho exhaust manifold. Stay away from the header style manifold.

2.3 Ho
yeah I got the 90-92 Ho exhaust manifold for now, hopefully a real header will available sometime in the future but I might try and port this manifold a little. theres not a valve clearance issue with the secret cams and this head on the 2.4 block is there?? also Im pretty sure I have to use 2.3l lifters as well right?? It's been a long time since I've even thought about doing this, ordering my head tomorrow

I would use the whole 2.3 valvetrain other than the cams, especially in the 086 head, MfK will tell you, this thing is great for RPMS AND BOOST, much better than the 2.4 head. You cant put 2.4 lifters in a 2.3 cam tower or 2.3 lifters in a 2.4 cam tower. The 2.3 lifters are larger, by 2mm if I remember correctly. Great head to have, thinking this swap as well.
well my goal is to get this head and all my bolt on's dyno'd then get the HPT and tune it. Im not doing it for any big gains or big numbers at all I just really want to see what kind of numbers the head and cams will put down. then what kind of advantages the hpt will provide with the high compression and raised rev limiter and where it puts the power in the rpm's. I've never seen my setup dyno'd and I'd like to beable to point people in the right direction with there N/A 2.4
I can get the head ported and polished fairly cheap. I know the head can not be ported hardly at all, do you think I could benefit from a type of polish?? I figured I would port match my intake and exhaust mani as much as I could but what about the head?? I don't have enough knowledge about heads to really know what exactly works and what doesn't but I figured I'd take it to the guy and have him take off any casting marks (if any) and smooth out and polish the exhaust side and maybe a little on the intake side. any sugestions would be great.
Thanks
(sorry for the long post)

thats a lot of work to get it to fit on a 2.4 block for minimal gains, no?

eh we'll see, it will be on the juice eventually so I think it will benift me in the end. just looking for a different setup than everyone else. plus Im bored and have to much money to play with. the 2.4 head needs some work anyways, might as well try something I've wanted to do for a while. the car just needs to get me to and from work and have a little fun on the way. that way I can dig into my 240sx

well... if you have too much money to play with, send some to me, i need a new paint job lol
its not difficult to install the head on a 2.4l block, all you need is a dremel to redo the water holes. use the gasket to mark them down. and use a 2.4 gasket for the install. I did it with HO cams and i love it.....
I would like more info on the 086 head and its modding to get it to fit on a 2.4. Im going to be building a n/a 2.4 and need to know how well will it work with the secret cams and what lifters to run... ect. I dont know exactly how to word it but im sure someone know what im taking abot. Thanks.

I was wrong, i blew mine and now using a modded 2.3 gasket. the 2.4 bore is too small for that head!!!
^^^^as for your Q, you need the head to match a 2.4 gasket, a dremel would take carre of that and is pretty easy, then match a 2.3 gasket to a 2.4 one and intall with 2.3. thats all!!
as for valves clearance, i dont know, i got custom pistons from karo with valves pocket in them and i'm running the HO cams....

I thought we discussed this Merlin...much earlier than July too. Did you use the 2.4L Cometic or did you use the 2.4L 99+ Felpro like I told you?

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
Nce info! Ayone know about the piston and valve clearence? im going to use the 2.3 gasket or 99+ felpro? Thanks!
i used a 2.4 felproo, the cometic bore was really too small. i still blew the felpro tho. i have installed a 2.3 now and its all good til now, we'll see with time. i asked on quad4forums and they also told me to use the 2.3 one!
