hey im putting a 2000 2.4 in my 99 and of course i replaced the knock sensor to the older one... but the thing is that i tap it and as i was screwing in the actual sensor it spun . now it wont go in or out. its about 2 cm away from hitting the wall .. will it be ok ? its nice and tight in there .. but just not against the wall.
some people leave them partly unscrewed to help with it not reading kknock as well. Kinda a oldschool trick. You'll be fine.
I am not sure about you car but my my knock sensor was the same as 2000 up. I had no modification to be done when i did the swap on my 99.

i had to do this when i swapped from my 96 to 2001 ya as long as its tight it doesnt have to touch a wall... it will still read a knock
