Sunday, August 27, 2006 12:12 PM
My friends has 2000 cavalier 2.2L 4 spd auto, He wants to know if it would be ok to remove his stock air box, And add a K&N cone filter to his car using excisting rubber throttle body air boot.? Or would that cause problems?.

should be fine as long as there's room. you might need a small piece of 3" steel or aluminum tubing to in order to get the clamp on there securely.

I ran like that for years. Great sound. Small power increase. Definitely the way to go if you're planning on getting boost or something later so you don't want to waste your money on an intake you'll later have to get rid of.

Nope K&N does not work on the Ecotec cavaliers, infact studys from University of Columbia state that a K&N Cone Filter on the Ecotec Cavaliers will actually decrese HP and TQ up to 50%!! So take my advice and get real, a K&N filter will work on any car of any model and type if it is a 3 cylinder to a v12 or even your gocart. Go to Autozone they have a neat air box that shows how much better K&N flows compared to FRAM or other (Leading) filters lol. I Sound like I'm trying to sell something.

What is wrong with Ebay intakes? I have one on my 2.4l and I can tell you now it will not make a diffirence if you buy AEM for $200 or an aluminum pipe with fittins off ebay and slap a nice filter on it.

In the planning stage for an all American TRD Cavalier.
