I have a 96 pontiac sunfire with a 3-speed automatic. Its going bad, so i want to know if the 3-speed in a 2.2L (2200) motor be the same as the one in a 2.2L OHV.?

I might be mistaken on this one, but there is a difference between the older 2.2L and the 2200 in terms of the ENGINE itself. If your question is strictly regarding the tranny though, then I don't think there should be a problem dropping one in from a 2200...
I'm trying to make a 95 2.2 with a 2000 2200 head. it's just a spare engine i'm putting togather.
the 2.2 is missing a cam position sensor.
oops its not about the engine.. the transmission will work.
i thought the 2200s came with 4 spreeds?
Base models came with the 3 sp, LS's came with the 4 sp.
