In the above link is a set of valve lifters for the LD9 2.4L J's. I plan on doing the "secret cams" swap and figure why not do the lifters and springs while Im in it. Now my question is, with these will I have to get perfromance style valve springs or can stock be used. I figured Id get new stock valve spring if they'll work. Now, does anyone have these lifters and if so are they worth it. Does anyone have better springs and where from? Ill take any/all opinions. I wanna get this swap done but wanna get everything else out the way since Im in the vacinity.

Thnxz for the wake up Ender

Um, hmm,
If you're doing the cam swap, the cylinderhead will still be on the car.
I guess you could change the valves, lifters, and springs, and seals, and anything else.
But I was under the impression that the head should be out of the car to do all that.
I'm unaware or many folks messing with their head for serious work while its still on the block.
Either way, they are stock replacements, so all stock hardware should work.

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
You dont have to do any head work for the cam swap. To do the cam swap the head stays on the block, only timing chain/cover/gears and the cam covers come off to do the swap. In order to do any major head work i.e. port and polish/new valves/springs the head has to come off. Forget about the new lifters unless one goes bad, and for those the head doesnt have to come of either.
Thanxz for the help guys.
Sorry about the misleading post. I was tired. But I was trying to do my internals anyways for the sheer fact that I want everything to wear at the same time. If it not a must then Im just going to do the cam swap. Thanxz to all

Secret cams are fine for stock valvetrain. Just don't rev the motor too high (6200+ is my guess) or you will run into valve float.
You won't have valves float over 6200rpm on the LD9. The problem is the oiling system.

I miss @!#$fed to approx 8k rpm once... I was scared but all was good...

Really? I thought the stock LD9 head had springs with a fairly low spring rate. Higher lift plus higher revolutions per second equates to a larger force on the springs which at a high enough lift (as well as a sharper cam profile) or high enough rpm will cause valve float.
I'll take both of your words for it, but I could of sworn that I read something about that a year or so ago.

Dang guys... Now your making me have second thoughts of doing the swap until I get upgraded springs! Now this is the main reason why I wanna do internals anyways to avoid any problems that may come up (ie valve float). If someone can clear this up, please do so. I could sure use the help.

The secret cams stay in the stock powerband so you don't need better springs.
Yes the 2.4 head have a spring that is "soft" but not enough to create problem at 6200rpm.

Sorry Gilles. I believe you misunderstood me. I wasn't claiming that they would float at 6200...that was just a rough estimate. I couldn't remember the exact rpm level that the valves start to float with the secret cams. A had them on my car before it spun the #3 rod bearing, and hadn't really noticed any problems.
Paul, I would strongly recomend not doing the secret cams before the oil pump swap. I think you said you were going to go with the neutral balance shaft one from jbp. I would look into that thouroughly (aka check peoples thoughts on it at higher rpm's). Because like Gilles said, the stock pump sucks and won't flow well over a certain RPM. I thought it was 5500, but I will gratefully let Gilles correct me for the 149178123rd time.
Alright then. Thanxz alot for the help guys. Im going after the oil pump swap first from JBP and then Ill do the swap. Ill keep my eyes on the rpm level so I dont run into the "float" problem. Gilles, Brian, Fst Cavy, Ge force, & Mastin... Thanxz again.
If anyone else has any opinions on this topic... Im open for comment. Thanxz in advance.

Take it from me, the Secret Cams work great on a stock motor. If your going beyond them, say to HO cams, I would worry about doing the springs.
As for the Oil pump...... its a great idea to upgrade that no matter what. Just not sure if the JBP pump is the answer.

There are HUNDREDS of people who have done the secret cam swap on a stock 2.4. I am not sure whether the JBP oil pump would do it or not either on a higher than stock rpm band, but we will soon find out, as Chris will be winding his motor to 8150rpms.
