beat a rsx NA he is NA and so am i, i have done mostly what i can to my cav and get no respect i do want to shut them hondas/acura up. i hate them and i want it to be fair chevy vs honda crap. no turbo cause i would win for sure.
i have a short shifter, secret cams, ho intake, underdrive pulley, no exhaust cause turbo in the future.
I don't even know where to begin...
get a faster car.

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
man come on guys we got to represent what we drive here. i hate hearing everytime you drive a cavalier blah blah blah. i want to lay those hondas to waste NA with a 2.4. there should be no replacment for displacment. 2.4 better than any wimpy 1.8 or 2.0.
nick renaud wrote: i hate hearing everytime you drive a cavalier blah blah blah.
so sell your car......
you want to make it move N/A then your really barking up the wrong tree, but look into Karo's build, his was built for nitrous and made some good power N/A.
but I still say sell the car either way, if people telling you that you drive a cavalier bothers you then made you shouldn't be driving a cavalier, or quit worrying about what others think

Most of the information can be found in other posts on this page as far as what will help make power---Quad oil pump, 086 head, H.O. cams, higher compression pistons, etc. I'm not going to discuss them again. If you really want to make more power, you will make the effort of reading those first, and researching past posts as well.
its possible, but it would be easier to go with nitrous or boost.
i have a feeling it was a base RSX, which doesnt say much, as a stock Z24/GT has more power..
thats really funny..ive never been beat by a NA rsx..but i got a quad

so either put in a quadHO or do the 086 head swap ...that with the cams you have should make some decent power...but if your getting beat by a base model rsx NON-S then theres really no hope for you
i havent raced one yet but plan it soon maybe. whats the 086 head swap? is it hard?
and for the other guy i love my cav very much but i do care what poeple think some what.
na rsx has like 180 hp and low torque i might have 160 horse, 155 toque so i dont know.
did a search on the swap and seemd to much work wouldnt be be easier to port and polish the stock head? and would it make the same gains? i do want the oil pump swap but its a lot of work and dont want to make a hole in my block. be noce to have extra money to do all this and then add turbo.
Head is easier to do than the 2.3 oil pump swap. You just drill and expand the water passages to match your 2.4 head (with the exception of one hole) and add a Felpro head gasket (GM fire ring is too small)...and before you ask: No, a ported 2.4L head won't outflow a stock 086 head.
heu man, lt1's are sdime a disenr.. get on and laugh at thrarcuaeas
Dude, you talk about how it is to much work to do on your car. What did you expect? Unbolt the old part and bolt on the new part? If that is what you are looking for you have the wrong car. You think turbo is going to be easier to install on your car than an 086 head? Think about it real hard, if you don't want to do the work to make your car stronger then you are not prepared to have a faster car. Its no LEGO's its work, and if you don't take pride in working on your own car and feel good at the end of the day with what you have accomplished then I wouldn't even try. But if you want my opinion on how to make your car N/A fast enough to beat Honda's and what not, since I'm hoping we are talking about track racing do this to your car:
086 Head
2.3 HO Intake Manifold
Secret Cams
HO Intake Manifold
Bigger Throttle Body
2.3 Oil Pump
Chevy Blazer Fuel Pump
Bigger fuel injectors
Forged Pistons
Forged Rods
HPT Pro
With all of that and a real nice tune from the HPT Pro you should be in the neighborhood of (210-215hp). If that is not enought to beat your hondas and RSX's then buy a new car. If your short on cash and don't want to buy things one at a time then don't bother to even mod your car. Do with it what it was made to do, use it as a daily economy car.
In the planning stage for an all American TRD Cavalier.

I say some sticky street tires (drag radials), hp tuners, poly engine and trans mounts, and control arm bushings.
Then you'll have a pretty good shot. at the type s.
He's a waste of time guys. He always has been, will always be.
He CAN'T search for ***** and he's too lazy to do the correct research so how can he do modification? He CAN'T.
I've been on his case before and it's always the same thing. Don't waste your time.
He ask questions and questions but he doesn't do s*** so don't waste your time.

n/a rsx non-s is 160 hp not 180 and it's totally a driver's race. a 2.4 or eco will beat them if you have a good launch... unlike the type-s they can't catch you back because they are underpowered...
and yeah, didn't you have a huge turbo setup with all the parts already ? did you wimp out or what ?

14.425 @ 97.833 mph stock + GMPP s/c on drag radials.
didnt wimp out just need get a gauge pod and maybe save up for hp tuners and do it right the first time. but for the mean time im power hungry. also the down time it hard to get around low on funds. i need a garage to do it in also.
i eat type-Slows for lunch
never seen one that could best 15.1

lol ...wow i beat a rsx type s w/ my 98z24 its pretty quick but depends on the driver tho. i got him by a car length, and my car is stock nothin but an intake. but yea i hear where your goin at i get the same sh*t "whats person like you drivin a cavaler" Ummm hondas are gettin played out ...but i still respect them!!! i see where you goin at !! lol
98'zeta veinte-quatro
(z24)......
Hi all. New to this forum and a new J-body tuner with a '96 Sunfire GT. Have AEM intake, fuel rail and 420mm injectors, "secret" cams Magnaflo cat, 3" RK sport exhaust into Number one cans...and it's an auto...and I can smoke just about anything NA around...including your hondas, neons, etc...regularly smoke off new Mustangs. have been looking through the mods posts and might get brave enough to try some.
I run 9.8's inna 1/8 and 15.40's inna 1/4...so I don't know why you're having all those problems with the import NA's....
if you're street racing...well, launching on the street ain't launching onna track. a half second jump will lose any street race. get on the track...red lights end ALL arguements...LOL.
good luck. Oh, and anyone that can help with ideas for my little car, feel free to guild a mongoloid mechanic/newbie tuner on the right path...! Thanks!
If i wanted a civic i'd have had japanese parents! now figure out how to make this fit!!
im confused, hes saying hes low on funds for his turbo setup yet hes power hungry and wants to spend money on NA mods yet he doesnt cause hes noticing to make good power he needs to put work into it as well as money. thats alot of contradictions.

Dude ok not to be a dick but honestly you will never beat a honda all motor because i am pretty sure they are not stock and have some bolt ons and maybe even k-pro for tuning so just boost and shut up the all motor and boosted hondas well honestly you need some boost because cavys were not made to be all motor race cars. Hey throw some giggle gas on your car and bust there ass

for mr renaud I agree with this statement, but concerning other jbodies I disagree. There's quite a few ecos and 2.4s into the 14s n/a and soon to be mid-high 14s (like myself) which is damn quick given our car's weight and compression ratio. (ok props to the honda guys hitting 13s and faster times, but if I could shave 1000lbs off my car and raise my compression by a full point i think the playing field would be leveled out a little bit).
regardless, boost is more fun anyway. n/a sucks.. can't wait to join the club personally.
